US National Weather Service Phoenix Arizona
There are finally good indications that we will break out of this hot and dry pattern and begin to see an uptick in monsoonal thunderstorm activity across the Desert Southwest, especially by this weekend.
-For the remainder of this week, high pressure will be centered west of AZ which will keep storms confined to the higher terrain, although the lower deserts could still see gusty outflow winds.
-As high pressure shifts into the Rockies and Plains by this weekend and early next week, moisture will surge into the Desert Southwest, bringing much better rain chances to the region including the lower deserts
