Poll: Nearly two-thirds of Arizona voters do not want US-Mexico border wall

PHOENIX — Nearly two-thirds of Arizona voters do not want a border wall constructed on the United States-Mexico border, a KTAR News/OH Predictive Insights poll released Wednesday said.

Sixty-two percent of respondents to the poll indicated they do not want the wall. Thirty-seven percent said they supported the wall, while 1 percent either did not know or refused to answer.
“The opposition to the wall, I think, comes from a variety of sectors, especially economic reasons,” U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) said when asked about the poll results.
Grijalva’s district includes the Arizona-Mexico border.The border wall enjoyed more support among respondents who were 45 or older and lived in either Maricopa County or rural Arizona.
Only 28 percent of Pima County voters said they support the wall.
“People closer to the borderlands have more opposition to it given that they’ve seen the effects of what’s there already along the southern border,” Grijalva said.The KTAR News/OHPI poll was conducted on May 1 by OH Predictive Insights — an Arizona-based polling company — in partnership with KTAR News 92.3 FM.
Survey Methodology
This live and automated caller survey was conducted on May 1 from an active Arizona registered voter sample. The sample size was 401 completed surveys, with a MoE of +/-4.89 percent. Of the surveys, 35 percent were conducted on cell phones and 65 percent via landlines. The party affiliation, geographic, gender and age demographics accurately reflect active registered voters in Arizona in this sample.

According to 2016 estimates gathered by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the United States was responsible for 36% of the entire world's military spending. Even so, President Trump is calling for a $54 billion increase in US military spending which he says is needed to "rebuild the military." In order to pay for this, Trump is also calling for a $54 billion cut in other parts of the federal budget.

The Kawasaki OH-1 (nickname: "Ninja") is a military scout/observation helicopter developed and manufactured by the Kawasaki Aerospace Company. The primary operator is the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), who originally procured the OH-1 as a domestically-produced successor to their existing OH-6D Loach fleet. The OH-1 has the distinction of being the first helicopter to be entirely produced in Japan.

In addition to its use an observation helicopter, it can also be armed with various munitions to directly participate in combat; such weapons include a limited quantity of anti-tank missiles or air-to-air missiles for self-defense purposes. Several variants of the OH-1 have been proposed, these have included derivatives of the type to serve as an attack helicopter as well as an aborted project to develop utility helicopter based on OH-1. As of March 2014, a total of 38 OH-1s have entered service with the JGSDF, so far these have complemented the existing OH-6Ds rather than replaced them.

A second unarmed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) has been launched from a US Air Force base in California just seven days after a previous launch. A spokeswoman for the Air Force Global Strike Command stated that the missions are carried out regularly and are planned in advance, though many suspect the launch was meant to send a message to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
