Open Data Portals + New Tools In The Inclusive Urban Design Tool-Box

IMAGINE what bright minds here in the City of Mesa can do with these instead of hearing all the Hyped-Up-Hoop-La from officials inside City Hall.
Here's just one example followed by some recent others that convert data into visuals and animated infographics.
Yes there is finally or a late start for an Open Data Portal here in Mesa. The data only goes back to 2016 just in case you might have an interest in "open data". Unfortunately it's a poor excuse for finally getting the site off-the-ground and available for public access.
Other cities are doing so much more.

"Data belongs to citizens.
By opening up its data, our Government strengthens its commitment to transparency while sharing its added value with society."
OK. Nice thought, but do everyone stay in their own lanes when there are so many ways to get there and some get there faster than others?

MAPPING SEGREGATION: MIT's ATLAS OF INEQUALITY
Here's the link > Carto.com
We were thrilled to work with the team on the recently launched Atlas of Inequality, addressing the nature of segregation in our lives. Learn more about the project today 🎉

We have just released the "Atlas of Inequality" a map of how unequal are places in our cities. Because economic inequality isn't just limited to neighborhoods. The restaurants, stores, and other places we visit in cities are all unequal in their own way.

For example this:
Apartments Built By Year from 1902-2019
Quick map: average number of units per apartment building, by location [made with new ABS set]
Here in Mesa there are over 290 Multi-Family Units, the  most MFUs of any city in entire The East Valley.
Most are of "a certain age" and a certain classification, but nonetheless these are selling like hotcakes with current high new construction costs, and higher year-over-year rent increases

Ever wondered what that vacant piece of land down the street might turn into?

Why did the Portuguese Empire collapse?

Now I know after my Portuguese father, the youngest of 14 first-generation kids born here in America, used to always brag that "Portugal once Ruled The World" . . . I was amazed at that statement but at the same time asked What Happened? Now I know . . .

Why did the Portuguese Empire collapse?
Portugal gained possessions in India, the East Indies, and Brazil. Besides the footholds in some parts of the world, Portugal was a country that discovered other places and establish trade routes to China and Japan. And their empire will start to exist as scarcely empire. It was a commercial operation based on possession of fortifications and posts strategically situated for trade. Portugal didn't focus on attacking and gaining tons of land from Oriental Kingdoms due to the probably the lack of necessary manpower and the huge distance to do so. the Portuguese also relied on alliances with native states and didn't dominate the Indian Ocean due to it's vastness, but managed to establish strongholds to assure a trade network.

Patriarch Partners CEO Lynn Tilton Announces New Proposal For MD Helicopters Here In Mesa

Making Helicopters great again:
"With the submission of a proposal for the US Army’s Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) programme, Lynn Tilton, company CEO, revealed a 200kt demonstrator known as Swift will compete for the tender.
'Military business has put us back on the map,’ Tilton said, while also referring to the success of the MD 530F Cayuse Warrior programme that now includes 60 deliveries to the Afghanistan Air Force and six to Kenya.  In addition, Lebanon ordered six MD530G aircraft in October 2018.
The 6XX programme has however been ‘put to one side’ all but confirming an earlier plan to have the aircraft certified in 2019-2020 no longer stands.
Heli-Expo 2019: MD Helicopters enters FARA fray with Swift
5th March 2019 - 23:35 GMT by Tim Martin in Atlanta
MD Helicopters (MDHI) is the latest industry participant to confirm it has submitted a proposal for the US Army’s Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) programme as Lynn Tilton, company CEO, revealed a 200kt demonstrator known as Swift will compete for the tender.
The demonstrator concept will be an iteration of the light utility 969 design complete with a composite airframe, a wing, NOTAR anti-torque system, new fans and thrusters with Tilton mentioning that MDHI has been working with Pratt and Whitney on the engine, while mission equipment has yet to be confirmed.
She also explained that a nine month production build timeframe has been set for the demonstrator to reach completion.
‘It’s important 969 work gets done as it’s a precursor to Swift,’ Tilton said, with all relevant certifications on the aircraft set to be finalised in 2019, after the programme was previously put on hold.
As 969 production ramps up, Tilton also revealed that the helicopter will be entirely built at MDHI’s Mesa, Arizona facility, a development made possible by ‘moving tooling back from Turkey’.
Research and development has supported efforts to arrive at the Swift blueprint, but on the subject of suppliers Tilton declined to confirm company names, but will do so at a future date.
There was no mock-up of the Swift design but other key business targets were detailed including MDHI planning on making 80 aircraft deliveries across its portfolio in 2019."
