Your Chance To Watch the City's 'Talented Workforce' > REMOTE FROM THE LOWER CHAMBERS STREAMING VOD Mesa City Council Study Session - 6/24/2021

This well-staged "Study Session" is so long - running 2:44:25 - that The Brady Bunch had to take a break midway through almost three hours of presentations. What are they trying to do - scoring some points while trying not to bite themselves too bad and jamming up the over-loaded agendas for City Council meetings next week . . .Let's try to un-pack it all

NOW WE SEE THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT PLANNING AHEAD FOR FASTEST GROWTH IN AMERICA: Mesa City Council "Study Session" MEGA-DROUGHT + MEGA-HEAT

TIME TO FACE SOME FACTS: Mesa is Vulnerable AF when it comes to that Group-Think Mentality within City Hall operations where rapid expansion is always the driving-force promoting Un-Sustainable development.

• Mesa currently purchases ~ 80% of its electric energy supplies from the Western Regional Energy Market (Western Market)
• First sign of challenges we are facing now was August 2020
• On multiple days for multiple hours, prices began spiking to levels not seen since the California Energy crisis of the early 2000’s.
Causes
 Natural gas on margin
 Trading purely on risk of another blackout
 Mesa must evaluate its participation in the market
3bbb1a_394e17023f7b4392a1617d57681bbbfa~mv2.png
 August 2020 and February 2021 we saw the results of shrinking reserve margins and unexpected shutdowns of generation
 Western Market experiencing:
1. Retirement of large generating plants
2. WITHOUT adequate new plant builds
3. Fastest customer growth in the country
