The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

This week, I spent my time back in Washington, D.C. while the Democrats continued their attempt to pass their multi-trillion-dollar socialist spending spree. I’ve been diving into the bills’ details so I can defend my constituents. As always, I’ll keep fighting on their behalf and keep everyone informed about what’s going on in the Swamp. Read below to learn about the important happenings of the week.

Democrats in Disarray
This morning, at 8:15am, I made a Motion to Adjourn (MTA), which, if passed, would end activity in the House for the day. Since the Democrats are clearly in disarray over these bills, I believe the House should adjourn until they are ready to vote (if they can even get enough votes). The Far Left called my MTA pointless and useless. But guess who just broke the record for the longest vote in modern House history, proving that the Democrats are clearly not ready to pass these bills? Yours truly.

Save the Date: Salute to Veterans
Next Monday, November 8, 2021, I will host Salute to Veterans, a night of entertainment and respectful ceremony in honor of those who fought to defend our country. It is open to all members of our Armed Forces, past and present, their families, and community members who would like to express appreciation for the sacrifices made. The event will also include information booths where staff members can assist constituents who are having difficulties with federal agencies. I hope you will join us! Click below for further details and to RSVP:

Abolish OSHA
This week, I introduced the Nullify the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (NOSHA) Act, to abolish the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for usurping states' authorities and forcing Biden's vaccine mandate on the private sector. OSHA released its new workplace safety guidance on Thursday, which forces private businesses to comply with Biden’s vaccine mandate. If businesses fail to comply, they will be threatened with thousands of dollars in fines. This is simply un-American. OSHA’s existence is yet another example of the federal government creating agencies to address issues that are more appropriately handled by state governments and private employers. Arizona, and every other state, has the constitutional right to establish and implement their own health and safety measures, and is more than capable of doing so. It’s time that we fight back against the bloated federal government and eliminate agencies that never should have been established in the first place. I will not let OSHA push Arizona around with their bureaucratic regulations and urge my colleagues to support my effort to eliminate this unconstitutional federal agency. Read the bill below:

Stop the Democrats’ Socialist Spending Spree
On Wednesday, I led the House Freedom Caucus press conference in fighting back against the Democrats' Socialist Spending Spree. Republicans must stand united against President Biden’s crisis-creating, economy-crushing agenda. Nancy Pelosi and her Far Left lackeys will stop at nothing to push through Biden’s socialist spending spree and ensure that every American is heavily taxed, every illegal alien is given amnesty, and that every federal agency is weaponized to restrict our freedoms and liberties. We must act against this legislative farce. Check out my press conference below:

Defending the Rights of the Unborn
The Far Left has proven, once again, that it wants limitless, taxpayer-funded abortion on demand for every person in the United States.  In fact, they will go as far as to celebrate abortion. During the Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday, a pro-abortion witness said “...abortion is a blessing. Abortion is an act of love. Abortion is freedom.” This couldn’t be further from the truth. Babies are a blessing. Life should be cherished. All should be loved. As Mother Theresa once said, “We must not be surprised when we hear of murders, of killings, of wars, of hatred. If a mother can kill her own child, what is left but for us to kill each other.” And she is right, we must keep fighting to protect the lives of our children. If not, what level of integrity is there left to uphold? Check out my remarks below on why it is so critical to defend the rights of the unborn:

Interview with Clay & Buck
This week, I joined Clay Travis and Buck Sexton on their podcast to discuss Biden’s border crisis. Recently, it was reported that President Biden wants to give a $450,000 payout to certain illegal aliens (each) who chose to cross the border illegally in 2018. This is unfathomable. President Biden and his administration are going out of their way to exacerbate the humanitarian and national security crisis at our southern border, placing American communities and our nation’s sovereignty at risk while doing so. It’s time for these so-called government leaders to wake up and realize that their oath is to uphold the U.S. Constitution and to protect the interests of the American people, not to give millions of dollars to illegal aliens who broke our laws. Check out my full interview below:

End the Witch Hunt
When you can’t govern, when every policy you advocate for is a disaster, and when the American people have grown weary of your march to an economic gulag, you must deflect their attention. The Democrats in Congress, with a few accomplices from the Republican Party, continue to dredge up the January 6th incident hoping that you will not feel the discomfort of their dystopian policies. But we aren’t easily fooled. We see through the Far Left’s tactics to drag out January 6th as a smear campaign against Trump supporters. We must stand firm and not waver to this endless witch hunt. Read more from my op-ed below:

Remain in Mexico
Today, I sent a letter to President Biden demanding answers on his continued efforts to terminate the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), a successful program established by President Trump to secure our border and discourage illegal immigration. The Biden administration’s continual efforts to terminate effective immigration policies is hurting our nation's security and putting the American people at risk. MPP was one of the most effective tools in our arsenal to deter illegal immigration, and yet, President Biden has slow-walked its court-ordered reimplementation and again announced his intention to end it entirely. President Biden’s open border policies have fueled an unprecedented border crisis and encouraged hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens to cross our border each month. President Biden must reinstate MPP immediately.

Interview with Varney & Co.

I joined Stuart Varney on Fox Business to discuss the growing movement among parents to fight back against the Left-wing’s control in our schools. This week, Virginia sent shockwaves throughout the country, especially in D.C., after Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin, a strong supporter of parent’s involvement in their children’s education, won the governor seat against Democrat candidate Terry McAuliffe, who flagrantly opposed parents’ involvement in their children’s education. Virginians made it clear that this new Far Left movement to push parents out of the classroom was not welcomed. Who knew that parents - not the government - were in charge of their children’s’ education (hint: not the Left)? Now, the real question is, will Democrats ease up on their Critical Race Theory/government-control agendas, or will they double down? Check out my interview below to hear my answer:

LOCKHEED MARTIN ENABLES JOINT ALL-DOMAIN OPERATIONS BATTLESPACE COUPLED WITH VERIZON'S WIRELESS EXPERTISE

LM and Verizon to Advance 5G Innovation for US DoD

Announcement follows demonstration of 5G.MIL network prototype utilizing Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband Service

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) have signed an agreement to collaborate on 5G.MIL™ technologies that will provide ultra-secure, reliable connections for U.S. Department of Defense systems, bringing together high-tech platforms into a cohesive network spanning air, land, sea, space and cyber domains. The strategic relationship agreement also establishes a joint research and development lab framework to prototype, demonstrate and test 5G.MIL technologies.

"Verizon is at the cutting edge when it comes to building out reliable, high performance 5G Ultra Wideband networks with mobile edge computing capabilities," said Kyle Malady, Chief Technology Officer at Verizon. "Our work with Lockheed Martin will help enable the creation of new and innovative products and technologies, helping DOD leaders achieve the goals laid out in their 5G strategy."

"Lockheed Martin’s deep understanding of DOD mission requirements coupled with Verizon’s wireless expertise will truly enable the Joint All-Domain Operations battlespace our customers envision," said Rod Makoske, chief engineer and senior vice president of Engineering and Technology at Lockheed Martin. "Leveraging commercial 5G technologies with military-grade enhancements will let customers field, scale and deploy this technology faster and in more operational environments."

Lockheed Martin’s 5G.MIL program is a robust, 5G-enabled, heterogeneous "network of networks" that integrates military tactical, strategic and enterprise networks, and leverages existing telecommunication infrastructure technology. 5G.MIL will enable interoperability between 5G networks, NextG networks and operational DOD networks to enable effective and resilient communication across all domains.

Earlier this week, Lockheed Martin and Verizon conducted a joint demonstration using a Verizon private 5G network installed at Lockheed Martin Space’s 5G Test Range in Colorado, connected to a Lockheed Martin open mission system processor running mission applications at the Skunk Works® Integration Facility and Test Center in Texas.

Initial tests demonstrated interoperability between Lockheed Martin open tactical gateway solutions and Verizon’s On Site 5G network technology. Specifically, situational awareness applications receiving Link-16 standard messages were linked to 5G user devices. Verizon’s infrastructure and Lockheed Martin’s open mission system tactical gateway technologies will help to address future anticipated requirements for tactical operations.

ADOT Selects final Sonoran Corridor route in Pima County

Sonoran Corridor Tier 1 Final Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision

Following several years of study, technical analysis and input from communities and stakeholders, the Arizona Department of Transportation has selected a final 20.47 mile corridor through Pima County. The Final Tier 1 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Record of Decision (ROD), which was released Friday, Nov. 5, identifies the selected corridor, which stretches between Interstates 19 and 10, south of the Tucson International Airport in Pima County.

A continuous, access-controlled transportation corridor between I-19 and I-10 would:

  • Improve access to future activity centers
  • Improve regional mobility
  • Improve connectivity
  • Integrate the region’s transportation network
  • Address existing and future population and economic growth
  • Provide an alternative to avoid congestion on I-10 and I-19
p

The combined Tier 1 Final EIS/ROD, along with its supporting documentation, is available on the study’s website at azdot.gov/Sonoran Corridor.

In addition, hard copies of the combined Tier 1 Final EIS/ROD document are also available for viewing at the following locations during normal business hours:

> Subsequent Tier 2 environmental and engineering studies would need to be conducted as part of the NEPA process to further refine the selected 1,500-foot Sonoran Corridor to identify a recommended 400-foot freeway alignment and identify planned interchange locations and other project elements.

> The Final Tier 1 EIS includes a phased implementation plan with preliminary recommendations for how the Sonoran Corridor could move forward into Tier 2 studies. The phased implementation plan includes smaller segments of the selected corridor alternative that may advance as separate, independent projects.

These studies, which are not yet funded, would include additional analysis and more opportunities for public review and comment.
