The New Housing Crisis: Shut Out Of The Market
Ten years after the housing collapse during the Great Recession, a new and different housing crisis has emerged.
Back then, people were losing their homes as home values crashed and homeowners went underwater. Today, home values have rebounded, but people who want to buy a new home are often priced out of the market. There are too few homes and too many potential buyers.
Home construction per household is now at its lowest levels in nearly six decades, according to researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. . . "

Home prices are rising fast in the Valley neighborhoods with the lowest prices, according to The Arizona Republic/azcentral Street Scout Home Values report.
EVICTIONS AND AFFORDABILITY
- A lack of affordable housing leads to unstable housing situations — and, often, heartbreak. Higher rents recently landed the Valley on a top 10 list of U.S. cities where renters have the toughest time stretching their wages to pay rent.
- Another study reported that Phoenix ranks second among U.S. metro areas in the share of renters ousted from their apartments.
VANISHING MOBILE-HOME PARKS
Mobile homes are among the most affordable types of housing, but their numbers are dwindling.
SOLUTIONS
Communities and non-profit organizations are working to increase the supply of affordable housing.

Here in Mesa we get Conservative Republican Mesa Mormon Mega-Millionaire and AZ State Senator coming out in front of the Mesa City Council as the public servant violating the public trust as the prime mover behind-the-scenes in a $10-miilion low-ball buy to control the commercial real estate market here in downtown based on taxpayer approval or rejection of another scheme to finance one ASU building here in downtown. He appeared with ex-U.S. Congressman Matt Salmon who snagged a high-paying job working and lobbying for ASU as "Vice-President of Government Affairs" at the time he announced he was retiring from elected office. Worsley has since announced that he will not be seeking another term in-office.
