Second batch of U.S. F16 Block 70 Fighter Jets Delivered to Bulgarian Air Force.

According to information published by the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence on June 8, 2025, the second U.S. F-16 Block 70 fighter jet for the Bulgarian Air Force successfully landed at Graf Ignatievo Third Air Base at 15:26 local time. 

The arrival of this advanced single-seat multirole combat aircraft, bearing tail number 313, marks a critical step in Bulgaria’s phased modernization of its national air defense capabilities. It was officially welcomed by senior Bulgarian defense officials, including Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov, Air Force Commander Major General Nikolay Rusev, and Colonel Metodi Orlov, commander of the host air base.

US to create a new base in Philippines to maintain unmanned naval vessels observing Chinese forces

On May 30, 2025, a notice published by the U.S. Department of Defense detailed plans to build a new maintenance and repair facility at Naval Detachment Oyster Bay, Palawan, which will support both manned and unmanned surface vessels used by the Philippines to observe Chinese vessels. The project aims to construct infrastructure that can maintain 11.6-meter (38-foot) vessels, equipped with electrical, air conditioning, and support systems suitable for these platforms.

On June 8, 2025, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) publicly showcased for the first time its new long-range coastal defense missile launcher vehicle armed with the upgraded Type 12 Surface-to-Ship Missile (12SSM). This advanced system was revealed during the Fuji Firepower Exercise at the Higashi-Fuji training area in Shizuoka Prefecture, the largest annual live-fire event of the JGSDF, and represents a major step forward in Japan’s “counterstrike” capability to deter and respond to maritime threats.
