The young minds behind the anti-police violence resource Campaign Zero launched an online tool on Monday that shows activists how to resist President Donald Trump's agenda at the local level.
"Our States," a website that Mic previewed exclusively, gives users a state-by-state breakdown of bills that, if enacted, would strip civil rights and other legal protections from communities of color, women and LGBTQ people.
Our States was a crowd-sourced effort. With the help of the legislation tracker, Open States, volunteers gathered information on legislative proposals in all 50 states and in six categories: immigration, policing and protest, reproductive justice, voting rights and LGBTQ equality.
The data is compiled and displayed on an interactive map, showing states that are considering progressive or restrictive legislation.
The website also features an "advocacy tool," allowing users to enter their zip code for a listing of their state representatives and, in some cases, their city leaders.

The website also suggests strategies for influencing state legislators, such as
  • asking for a face-to-face meetings
  • following up
  • applying pressure through direct actions and protests.
"Our States is created out of the realization that, in the conversation that we're having about equity and justice, state level politics rarely comes up in that conversation," Sinyangwe said in the interview. "If we're going to block [Trump's agenda] from happening, we've got to create avenues for people to get informed."

Faith in Main Street Mesa Restored: New Business ReVived

Re Vived - No longer vacant for months @ 138 W Main Street in the iconic Pomeroy Building , Shannon & Travis McKinzie are on a mission to create The Revived Experience here in downtown. . Now what's goin' on with that when a couple who live in a condo in downtown Gilbert, 'down-sizing' after selling their home here in Mesa with two teenagers still in-the-nest, decide to open a business here in Mesa? Whoa!
It's not your usual Mom-and-Pop story but one your MesaZona really needs to tell.
No director of downtown transformation could have possibly imagined the eclectic mix of new businesses filling old spaces here: just recently in the past few months a tattoo parlor and a leather shop and now this: Revived - it's a vision to bring you not just another store but an experience.
These images of the interior were taken today just hours ago, to showcase what Shannon and Travis have been working hard on for the previous four months.
They offer many things such as unique retail furniture from the 18th-20th centuries that they refurbish, design services, staging and consultations by designing vignettes in the showroom throughout the space. They also have an in-house local contractor to assist with more in-depth designs.
Making your way to the back of the store you will an eclectic gift shop featuring hand-selected local vendors

...and the Chocolate Wasted Shack
[not shown here - you'll have to stop by and visit to find out about that - 'hand-plastered strawberries ready to-take-home or special order for any occasion.

The mission of the new store is building a relationship with their clients to provide the best experience.
From a brief chat with Shannon on the premises today, they can offer you top-rated experience.
This vignette caught your MesaZona's eye - 18th Century chairs with original tufted muslin upholstery left exposed
