The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
This week, a whole lot of nothing was accomplished on Capitol Hill except for more performative nonsense by the Democrat Party. President Biden stopped by to waste time chumming it up with Senate Democrats over their socialist “infrastructure” plan. Democrat state legislators from Texas showed up to DC on a private charter plane to avoid voting on election integrity legislation and to shirk their government responsibilities. Yet, as Washington churns along slowly, the fight to restore sensible solutions continues. Keep reading below to see several important happenings from this week.
Border Visit
I’ll save you the details about the border crisis, because at this point, I think everyone knows how bad the circumstances are at the southern border and how little the Biden administration cares. I took a trip to McAllen, Texas to be briefed on the latest by CBP and community members. Spoiler alert, the Biden Border Crisis has gotten progressively worse, with nearly 190,000 illegal border encounters happening this past June. Check out the pictures from my trip below:
Mr. Biggs engages on social media accounts also: yesterday he took some heat on his Twitter account in replies posted about his remarks on the Border.
GOP Lawmaker’s Tweet Suggests He’s Mad That U.S. Intercepted Fentanyl At The Border
Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona seemed angry that “enough fentanyl to kill 238 million Americans was seized at the southern border last month.”
Biggs attempted to take President Joe Biden to task after the U.S. Border Patrol intercepted a bunch of fentanyl at the southern border.
His tweet came off as criticism that a highly addictive drug was kept from reaching the U.S. He even asked, “Where’s the outrage?”
Many Twitter users responded to Biggs’s tweet with variations of Inigo Montoya’s famous line from “The Princess Bride”: “I do not think it means what you think it means.”
Some people had questions.
One woman turned Biggs tweet into a teachable moment.
One Twitter user suggested the “real outrage” wasn’t that fentanyl was being stopped at the border but that Biggs hadn’t faced arrest for his participation in the Jan. 6 insurrection.
Another person suggested the real outrage was that the White House wasn’t making a big deal out of a big score.
After a few hours of getting dunked on, Biggs responded to the Twitter snark by suggesting he was misinterpreted. He also claimed, without evidence, that the Border Patrol could intercept even more drugs if it weren’t “dealing with a humanitarian crisis.”
However, a Twitter user pointed out that the fact the Border Patrol managed to get that much fentanyl is a sign it’s doing its job.
