There were two diverging reports and hearings of views - this streaming video uploaded from ABC15 shows Queen Creek GQP Republican Warren Peterson side-by-side with AZ Senate President Karen Fann in an on-air simulation that looks like almost real.
Was that a Senate hearing on Arizona's election audit or a Trump infomercial?
" It’s over, Arizona.
After Thursday’s, um, “hearing” on the election audit, President Donald Trump suggested that we just go ahead and decertify Maricopa County’s election, based on what he called “devastating news” from the Senate’s ninja auditors.
“The highly respected State Senator Wendy Rogers said in a tweet the hearing today means we must decertify the election,” Trump said. “In any event, the Senate patriots are moving forward with final results to be announced in the not-too-distant future, but based on today’s hearing, why even wait?”
Here in the real world, the Senate's ninja auditors on Thursday actually said they need more information from Maricopa County, including copies of early ballot envelopes with our signatures, before they can complete their work.
Oh, and they also want to go knocking on voters’ doors to quiz us on, well, we don’t really know what they want to know. (But I'm guessing the Department of Justice would be curious to find out.)
“I highly recommend we do the canvassing because it’s the one way to know for sure whether the data we are seeing, whether it’s real problems or whether it’s clerical errors,” Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan said.
Or possibly, whether it’s auditors who don’t know what the heck they’re doing?
It was long on innuendo (perfect for the MAGA crowd)
At least one other news source asks the right question and another new source - The Associated Press in Arizona - has published data:
