Mesa City Plaza
20 E. Main St.
Year built: 1975.
Details: Eight stories.
Cost: City purchased it in 1989 for $8.3 million.
Noteworthy: It's a former bank building.
Mesa's eight-story City Hall originally was a First National Bank of Arizona building, which opened in 1975. The city purchased the building in 1989 for $8.3 million, and two years later the engineering department became the first to move in. The city manager's office relocated there in 1995 and other departments moved in as private leases expired.
"It's just a building, really," said Randy Policar, public information and communications specialist.
But while Mesa's City Hall isn't particularly stunning, one representative pointed out that it does have beautiful courts.
