A quick round-up of global developments, only on StratNews Global
The United States implemented a 104% tariff on Chinese imports, intensifying the ongoing trade conflict between the two nations.
  • In response, China condemned the US actions as "blackmail" and vowed to "fight to the end" to protect its interests
The escalating tariffs have led to significant market volatility, with global stock markets experiencing sharp declines and fears of a potential recession growing among investors. The 104% tariff isn't the only thing that has angered the Chinese.
  • Recent comments by the likes of JD Vance and Pete Hegseth have only added more fuel to the fire with Chinese social media responding by trolling the US on trying to fan a trade war when it can't even handle an egg shortage.
The leaders of Vietnam and Spain have pledged to boost economic ties and defence cooperation and voiced their support for upholding free trade, at a time when both are hit with the Trump administration's reciprocal tariffs.
Spain and Asian manufacturing powerhouse Vietnam are seeking to avert the imposition of tariffs of 46% on Vietnamese goods and 25% on European Union products entering the US.
  1.  "Regarding the current global situation, the more difficult and challenging it is, the more we need to cooperate and underline the multilateralism," Vietnamese PM Pham Minh Chinh said at a joint briefing with his Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez who is visiting Hanoi.
  2. Sanchez said Spain believed that trade wars benefit no one but harm everyone.
Elon Musk has called Trump's trade advisor Peter Navarro 'dumber than a sack of bricks'.
  • Trump's top advisors are having a go at each other rather publicly as they disagree on the tariffs that Trump has set into motion.
  • Navarro has responded by claiming that Musk isn't a car manufacturer but a mere assembler, clearly hitting a raw nerve with the world's richest man.
As for the White House, it seems content to let 'boys be boys'.

Nearly 17 years after the blood-soaked night of 26/11, when ten Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists stormed Mumbai and killed over 170 people, one of the key conspirators — Tahawwur Rana — is finally being brought to India. After years of legal wrangling, he is now on a plane, being extradited from the United States to face justice on Indian soil. But the question lingers — why has justice taken so long? Rana’s extradition is a rare glimmer of hope. His interrogation may unearth new details — names, links, evidence — that can help India tighten the noose on those still at large.

But justice delayed has already been justice denied for far too long. As Rana’s plane touches down, let it also be a moment to renew our collective resolve: the victims of 26/11 deserve more than symbolism. They deserve closure. And that means, finally, bringing all the perpetrators to book — no matter how long it takes, or how deep the complicity runs. ================================================================
