Nearly three years after the Nord Stream gas pipeline sabotage that shook Europe’s energy security, German prosecutors have announced the arrest of a Ukrainian national in Italy.
Identified as Serhii K., the suspect is accused of coordinating the 2022 blasts that destroyed Nord Stream 1 and 2, pipelines central to Europe’s gas supply from Russia.
Investigators say the operation involved a yacht rented under false identities from Rostock, Germany, used to transport military-grade explosives.
The arrest has revived political debates across Europe, casting scrutiny on Ukraine’s possible links, Russia’s accusations against the West, and NATO’s strained energy-security landscape.
