KEEPING YOU INFORMED: THIS HAS CONSEQUENCES> Take The Time To Get Informed, Please

Your MesaZona blogger was one of a very few members of the public who attended a meeting of the Economic Development Advisory Board meeting where this presentation was made by Sara Sorenson, a staff member in the Office of Economic Development, to promote a plan for establishing certain "incentives" called GPLETs.
The study presented was done by a group called Zion Public Finance, a Utah-based company that was selected in a plan for a Redevelopment Area [RDA] that would also apply to an expanded Central Business District. Although the item slated on the meeting's agenda was listed for discussion, surprise action was taken for a vote by EDAB members, with one nay.
That happened two months ago.
This press release was issued yesterday:

Post Date:11/15/2016 1:25 PM
Hello,
As you may know, the City of Mesa recently established the Southwest Redevelopment Area (outlined on the map above) in an effort to revitalize the area and encourage additional economic development.
As a next step in this process, the City will begin drafting the Redevelopment Plan, which will serve as the blueprint for redevelopment activities and opportunities in the area.
We want to incorporate feedback from our community and stakeholders into the plan. Please click the link below to take a short three-question survey about the vision, challenges, and opportunities within the Southwest Redevelopment Area.
Survey: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3161517/Mesa-Southwest-RDA-Questionnaire-1

Your input will be critical in identifying the vision for the area.
Thank you for your participation.
