Mon 24 Feb 2020: 2 Mesa City Council Meetings

XXX
Uploaded streaming vide are now available for you to see. Both are about 20 minutes in running time.
There's so much crammed onto the Consent Agenda that too many items passed muster and that looks like the original intention > contract awards involving huge price increases that were approved is just one that got "overlooked".
Readers of this blog might like to note that it took Kevin Christopher more than 6 minutes to speed-read and gloss-over the entire Consent Agenda at the start of the regular meeting that followed the Study Session!
The good news is that some items and two PUBLIC HEARINGS had to get "continued" to a later date.... plenty of time for more attention
ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT AGENDA
(to be continued)
There was some confusion apparent at both meetings.
Everyone was present. Not everyone spoke up.
The bulk of discussions were the give-and-take between D6 Councilmember Jeremy Whittaker, Mayor John Giles and City Manager Chris Brady hearing Items 7-a and 7-b and the use of language in a new proposed Ordinance and a proposed Resolution - continued to March 16th.
Financial and accounting issues remain center-stage, months after questions raised last year.
The ZONINGs AND ANNEXATIONs in Item 11 are all scheduled to be heard later.

THE STUDY SESSION

THE REGULAR MEETING
Hizzoner John Giles in pose-hand in the direction to City Manager Chris Brady.
Somewhat contrived with cues and hand gestures and more confusion . . .
At the very end, Presiding office John Giles asks and finds that someone who was present at the study session has submitted a blue comment card about protocol.
