The Week in Review
Happy Friday! The House had its final week of recess before returning to D.C. for three weeks of session. During the week, I split my time between the Fifth District and Capitol Hill so I could participate in the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing with FBI Director Christopher Wray. While fighting bureaucracy is no easy task, I am humbled to hold Big Government accountable on behalf of the American people. With each passing day under the Biden administration, the border crisis continues to intensify, inflation progressively rises, and the Far Left encroaches on our civil liberties. I will keep fighting back against radical policies to preserve the freedoms we hold so dear. Keep reading to see what I have been working on! Service Academy Conference Tomorrow, Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08), Congressman David Schweikert (AZ-06) and I are hosting a Military Service Academy Conference. The event will take place at Church for the Nations in Phoenix from 10am to 12pm. This is an excellent chance to hear from representatives of the Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, U.S. Military, and Naval Academies as they explain the unique academic, career, and military service opportunities offered by each school. Congressional staff will also be present to explain the required congressional application and nomination process. The NPRC currently has a backlog of over 500,000 cases, preventing veterans from accessing the records they need to receive their benefits. Reduced staffing during the COVID-19 outbreak caused the case backlog to skyrocket from 50,000 cases, and the NPRC has done little to address the issue. This is shameful and I am working with my colleagues on the committee to reduce the backlog as quickly as possible. Click the picture below to see my full statement: What's the BIGGs Idea? Podcast My podcast is a short, bi-weekly project in which I invite today’s influential figures to ask hard questions on topics that matter to you. This week, I sat down with my friend and colleague, Congressman Jim Jordan, to talk about rising crime, rampant FISA surveillance abuse, and bias against conservatives by the Washington bureaucracy. You can find the podcast on any major podcast platform or click the picture below to listen to the latest episode: Hearing w/ FBI Director Christopher Wray On Thursday, the Judiciary Committee questioned Director Christopher Wray on the FBI’s surveillance power. We continue to see rampant violations of civil rights proliferate under the FISA process as made clear by reports from the Justice Department. Despite our frequent inquiries to Director Wray, and Thursday’s lengthy hearing, we have yet to receive any real answers. Instead, the FBI continues to blatantly abuse their power and the American people’s privacy continues to be at risk of government surveillance. Check out my full interaction with Director Wray by clicking below: Interview w/ Ben Shapiro I spoke with political commentator Ben Shapiro from The Daily Wire on his radio show to discuss the latest regarding the border crisis, the liberal agenda in Congress, rising inflation, and more. Click the picture below to see the full interview: Mornings with Maria Today, I joined Maria Bartiromo on Fox News to discuss the latest border-crossing numbers. In May, CBP encountered more than 180,000 people attempting entry along the border. This represents a 674% increase from May 2020, and a 247% increase from May 2018. Meanwhile, the Biden administration continues to ignore this humanitarian crisis. Check out my thoughts on this below: |
