The nonprofit ProPublica and the research firm Rhodium Group combined several metrics like rising temperatures, rainfall, economy and wildfire frequency to create the rankings.
Making the 100 most at-risk are six Arizona counties: Cochise, Graham, Maricopa. and Maricopa.
All are at risk for being uninhabitable in the near future, as soon as within two decades, according to the study.
