Under the Environmental Quality Act of 1986, the Arizona State Legislature established the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality in 1987 as the state agency for protecting and enhancing public health and the environment of Arizona.
We are following up to provide you with an update about progress developing an Advanced Water Purification (AWP) Program (formerly referred to as Direct Potable Reuse).
Since our last communication to you in July, which shared the AWP Technical Advisory Group (TAG) recommendations, ADEQ has been using the TAG recommendations in conjunction with other sources to develop the AWP Program framework or “AWP Roadmap.” We are excited to share the roadmap with you soon, which will provide a detailed outline of the steps we will take to implement the AWP Program in Arizona.
