An Ozone High Pollution Watch is in effect for Wednesday

An Ozone High Pollution Watch is in effect for Thursday

The weather pattern over region will then start to change by Thursday as a low pressure wave is projected to enter the picture. This wave will push the high pressure to the east and help to establish a moisture tap from the south. More moisture means "cooler" temperatures as well as increasing thunderstorm chances. Thus, our monsoon hopes will be revived towards the end of this week.
  • Air quality-wise, ozone will be the pollutant of interest. The high pressure will result in sunny skies and light winds, conditions conducive for ground-level ozone formation and build-up.

Therefore, daily elevated ozone levels are expected to continue.
  • 1) An Ozone High Pollution Advisory is in effect for today.
  • 2) An Ozone High Pollution Advisory has been issued for Monday.
  • 3) Ozone High Pollution Watches have been put into place for Tuesday through Thursday. In regards to PM (dust),
  • PM will be mostly locally driven. Industrial areas south/southwest of the Phoenix metro will likely see elevated PM levels on weekday mornings.
  • Winds from distant thunderstorms may also cause briefly elevated PM levels in the evenings/nights.
