Saudi Arabia warned Israel against targeting Rafah on Monday, calling it a “bloody and systematic” campaign aimed at forcefully displacing Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
The deliberate targeting of civilian areas such as Rafah is a flagrant violation of international law and human rights principles, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s warning of the dangers of the Israeli occupation forces targeting the city of Rafah as part of its systematic bloody campaign to storm all areas of the Gaza Strip and displace its residents towards the unknown, in light of the lack of safe zones after the massive destruction caused by the Israeli war machine,” the statement read. The Israeli army ordered some 100,000 Palestinians earlier on Monday to begin evacuating from the southern city of Rafah, signaling that a long-promised ground invasion there could be imminent and further complicating efforts to broker a cease-fire in Gaza.
The looming operation in the city — where more than 1 million Palestinians are sheltering and a high number of deaths is feared — has raised global alarm and Israel’s closest allies have warned against it.
Riyadh affirmed its categorical rejection of Israel’s continued blatant violations of all international resolutions, calling for the cessation of “these massacres and their violation of international law and international humanitarian law without deterrence.”
Saudi Arabia called Israel out for exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and limiting international peace efforts through its actions.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry renewed calls for the international community to intervene immediately to stop what it called the genocide carried out by the “occupation forces against defenseless civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories.”
