Since 19:51 local time yesterday, a seismic swarm has been occurring in the Campi Flegrei caldera.
Until 00:31 local time last night, approximately 150 earthquake events have been monitored. The largest recorded earthquake had a magnitude of 4.4, which is the most powerful quake recorded since the current seismic crisis began in 2005.
The epicenter is located within the Solfatara at a depth of 2.6 km.
Seismicity is inherently unpredictable, so additional seismic events, potentially of similar energy to those already recorded during this swarm, cannot be ruled out.

Currently, there is no increase in the ground uplift rate, which remains at 2 cm/month. Additionally, there are no changes in the trend of horizontal deformations or local ground deformations from the previous trend.

The geochemical parameters measured at continuous monitoring stations (such as temperature and carbon dioxide emissions) do not show significant variations compared to recent months, aside from the known increase in temperature and pressure characteristic of the hydrothermal system.

... , This video is about extreme weather events around the world including floods in China, hail storms in several places and a recent seismic swarm in Italy.
> In Guangxi and Guangdong provinces in southern China, there was heavy rainfall. Janang City in Guangdong saw 74.9 mm of rainfall in just 20 minutes earlier this morning. . [00:00] > A strong hail storm passed through Yuma, Colorado in the United States. Hail reached the size of softballs and caused significant damage. [02:05] > There were reports of a dam collapse in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in early May 2024. Recovery efforts are still ongoing. [2:20]
> A recent seismic swarm in Campi Flegrei, Italy has caused fear and concern among local residents. The strongest earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.4, the most powerful tremor in the area for the past 40 years. [2:42] > Heavy rains have triggered floods and landslides across Germany. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate has been one of the worst affected. Cities like Kar and Saarbrücken, along with their surrounding suburbs with a combined population of 200,000, have been significantly affected. [3:16] > In Nevada, massive swarms of Mormon crickets have descended upon fields, roads, homes and even businesses. Campi Flegrei, earthquake of magnitude 4.4: it is the strongest in the last 40 years.

It was a long night spent on the streets by many citizens of Pozzuoli. Many found shelter on board cars parked far from buildings, or in the two small tent cities, set up by the Civil protection, in the port area and in the Pertini seafront area.

From 19pm yesterday seismic swarm underway in the Campi Flegrei area recorded until approximately 00:31 today 150 earthquakes, the strongest of which of 4.4 magnitude, inside the Solfatara.

This is highlighted by theNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv), adding that at present there is no increase in the lifting speed, which is currently 2 cm/month, nor changes in the trend in horizontal deformations or local deformations of the ground different from the previous trend.

However, it is about the shock with the greatest intensity in the last 40 yearsthe strongest ever recorded since the phenomenon of bradyseism reappeared in the Campi Flegrei. The previous record dates back to the earthquake of September 27: then the magnitude recorded was 4.2. Another strong earthquake (magnitude 3.9) then occurred at 21pm and another, of magnitude 46, at 3.6pm.

The shock was felt by the populationlazionor in the Phlegraean municipalities of Pozzuolibacoli e Monte di Procida, and in the city of Napoli, particularly in the western area neighborhoods FuorigrottaBagnolisoccavo e Pianura, but also in the hilly area and in the city center, particularly on the upper floors.

Thirty-five homes, in three different buildings, have been evacuated as a precaution. This was announced by the Prefecture of Napoli. As regards roads and sub-services, no particular problems have been reported, nor in terms of health.

Pozzuoli, the epicenter of the earthquake swarm, schools will remain closed today. This is what the Municipality communicates on its page Facebook, inviting “keep calm as much as possible”.

It has arrived in the Municipality Vincenzo De Luca
The President of the Region Campania, accompanied by the director of the ASL Napoli 1, Ciro Verdoliva, and by the general director of the Civil Protection of Campania, Italo Giulivo, first took part in an operational meeting which was also attended by the mayor of Pozzuoli, Louis Manzoni, and then met some citizens at the port who asked for reassurance:
«I'm here to reassure you – the words of De Luca -. Everything that needs to be done in these cases is being done. You don't have to be afraid.".
