Ukraine needs to adopt 'realistic vision for peace, ’ Crimea is Russian

Support from Western allies has been key to Ukraine's ability to defend itself against Russia's much larger and better-equipped enemy.
The European Union has already provided 122 billion euros ($131 billion) in military and financial support to Ukraine and trained about 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers, said Borrell, adding that the bloc aimed to reach 75,000 by the end of the winter.

Trump is required of Zelensky's "forget about Crimea" as a condition of peace

News — Saturday, November 9, 2024, 5:32 PM —
Senior adviser to newly elected President Donald Trump Brian Lanza said the new administration would focus on achieving peace in Ukraine, stressing that it was unrealistic to expect Crimea to return.
He said this in an interview BBC, conveys "European truth".
Brian Lanza, a Republican strategist, said the Trump administration would ask Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to present his version of the "realistic vision of peace."
"And if President Zelensky sits at the negotiating table and says that we can only achieve peace if we have Crimea, he will show us that he is not serious about it," he said.
Lanza, the former president's political adviser since Trump's campaign began in 2016, did not mention eastern Ukraine, but said the return of Crimea from Russia was unrealistic and "not the goal of the United States."
"When Zelensky says we will stop these fighting, that peace will come only when Crimea is returned, we have news for President Zelensky: There is no more Crimea," he said.
"And if it's your priority – to bring back Crimea and force American soldiers to fight to bring Crimea back, then you're on your own," Lanza added.
The United States never sent American soldiers to fight in Ukraine, and Kyiv did not ask American troops to fight on his behalf.

Lanza said he treated the Ukrainian people with great respect, describing him as having a lion's heart. But he said the US priority was "peace and an end to the killings."

"We want to tell Ukraine: do you know what you see? What you see as a realistic vision of peace. This is not a vision of victory, but it is a vision of peace. And let's start an honest conversation, – he said.

Lanza also criticized the support provided by the Biden-Harris administration and European countries to Ukraine after Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.

"The reality on the ground is that European nation-states and President Biden have not given Ukraine the opportunity and weapons to win this war in the beginning, and they have not been able to lift restrictions on Ukraine's victory," he said.

During the election campaign, Trump openly made it clear that it will stop or drastically reduce military assistance to Ukraine if it wins the elections on November 5, as well as refused to declare that wants Ukraine to win the war.

Borrel: There is still no consensus among EU countries on military training in Ukraine

News — Saturday, November 9, 2024, 5:56 PM —

He said this at a press conference with the head of the Foreign Ministry Andriy Sibiga in Kyiv, according to "European Truth".

"There is no consensus among Member States on a training mission operating in Ukrainian territory to reach this decision. But the training mission can continue its work,
– he said, answering the question of whether the deployment of European instructors to Ukraine could be a response to the participation of the DPRK military in the Russian war against Ukraine.

  • Borrel reminded that the EU military training mission for Ukraine will prepare 75,000 Ukrainian troops by the end of the year.

"We are trying to train Ukrainian soldiers as close as possible to the Ukrainian border, but this is not a defense mission as such...
There is currently no consensus on doing so in Ukrainian territory. I can't rule out that this will happen. But my task – is to try to make the mission work and increase the number of Ukrainian soldiers being trained,
– added the head of European diplomacy.

On the eve of the EU Council for two years extended the mandate the EU military training mission to train the Ukrainian military, it is worth more than 400 million euros.

  • It will be recalled that the European Union mission to provide military assistance to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) created On October 17, 2022, with an initial mandate of two years, its work is funded by the European Peace Fund.

The EU training mission for Ukrainian troops officially kicked off and is running on full capacity. It is not just a training mission, it is clear proof that the EU will stand

During this time, about 63,000 Ukrainian troops were trained in the European Union, which is comparable to a set of ten brigades.
