More Military Stockpiles for Ukraine Money-Pit

Immediate Release

Biden Administration Announces New Security Assistance Package for Ukraine

Today, the Department of Defense (DoD) announced a significant new security assistance package to ensure Ukraine has the tools it needs to prevail in its fight against Russian aggression. This security assistance package commits an additional $988 million in support through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) that will provide Ukraine with munitions for rocket systems and Unmanned Aerial Systems. This package also includes support for maintenance and repair programs to help Ukraine reconstitute its forces and build and sustain combat power.

The capabilities in this announcement include:

  • Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);
  • Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS); and
  • Equipment, components, and spare parts to maintain, repair, and overhaul artillery systems, tanks, and armored vehicles.

This is the Biden Administration's twenty-second USAI package and part of the surge of aid for Ukraine. The United States will continue to work together with some 50 Allies and partners through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group and its associated capability coalitions to provide the support Ukraine needs to win the war.

Trump's November election victory has cast doubt on the future of American aid for Ukraine, providing a limited window for billions of dollars in already authorized assistance to be disbursed before he is sworn in next month.

Media: Sullivan has promised Ukraine hundreds of thousands of shells and thousands of rockets by mid-January

News — Friday, December 6, 2024, 09:25 —

The White House has developed a strategy to strengthen Ukraine's military position, which provides for "lavic-like" military assistance and the introduction of new large-scale sanctions against Russia.

According to "European Truth", this is stated in a briefing by a representative of the National Security Council, who was shared with The Guardian.

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan on Thursday for over an hour met with the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.

As noted, during the meeting, Sullivan promised to provide Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of additional artillery shells, thousands of rockets and hundreds of armored vehicles by mid-January.

The United States also promises to support Ukraine in resolving the personnel problem by offering to train new troops at facilities outside Ukrainian territory.

In addition, in the coming weeks, the United States will introduce a number of new sanctions against Russia.

All this is being done in order to complicate Russia's ability to support hostilities and strengthen Ukraine's position at the negotiating table, which could lay the groundwork for a future settlement, the newspaper said.

Last week, it became known that incumbent US President Joe Biden had asked Congress allocate another $ 24 billion to military aid to Ukraine and replenish the stockpiles of American weapons, which were transferred to Kyiv.

At the same time, the Biden administration is currently using the balance of congressional funds to hand over military aid to Ukraine.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken assured NATO and the Ukrainian side of readiness make full use of funding for Ukraine, authorized by Congress.

However, House Speaker Mike Johnson recently said that will not put to the vote a request from the Biden administration with an additional $ 24 billion to help Ukraine.
