The American leader also assured the President of Ukraine that he would help in the implementation of the exchange of prisoners in the format of “all for all”.
“We are talking about both our prisoners of war and civilian – journalists, political prisoners. We agreed to work on it,” he said.
Donald Trump supported the option of a trilateral meeting at the level of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States and Russia.
“The United States is proposing to hold it as soon as possible. But for this, the consent of all parties is needed,” Zelensky said.
After the talks in Washington, President Trump contacted the Russian side and discussed possible diplomatic steps. Russia offered to first hold a bilateral meeting between Ukraine and Russia, and then a trilateral one.
