It can be said that as Starship evolves through each new version, every part of Starbase must evolve with it. The future of Starship will not only depend on greater power and capability, but also on the ability to build and launch these vehicles at a scale that the aerospace industry has never experienced before.
- Achieving that future requires a production system that is powerful, efficient, and capable of supporting a launch cadence unlike anything that exists today. That is the purpose of Giga Bay. From the moment construction began, this massive facility was assigned some of the most ambitious goals ever seen in rocket manufacturing.
During a company talk earlier this year, Musk revealed the long-term target for Giga Bay. He said, “We’re expanding integration to produce 1,000 Starships per year. That hasn’t been built yet, but we’re building it. That is a truly enormous structure, is that, this will be one of the biggest structures. I think by some measures, the biggest structure in the world, and it’s designed for 1,000 Starships a year”

One thousand Starships per year translates to two or even three completed vehicles every single day. To anyone familiar with aerospace manufacturing, the idea sounds impossible. Rockets have always been known for complexity, delicate engineering, high cost, and slow production. Yet Giga Bay aims to shift that narrative entirely.
The scale of this facility will make such output possible.
Giga Bay is expected to cover roughly seven hundred thousand square feet, which is more than sixty-five thousand square meters. The structure will also rise to a height of about three hundred eighty feet, or one hundred sixteen meters, which is tall enough to support full assembly of Super Heavy boosters and Starships under one roof.
