PERSONALIZED ROADMAP TO RECOVERY FOR MAINSTREET MESA: Consultant Wanted


RAIL is looking for a
Recovery Technical Assistant!
                        
As COVID-19 pandemic hit Arizona and a statewide emergency shut down businesses, for about a month and a half, businesses felt the impact of the shutdown, immediately.

LISC Phoenix, through the support of US Bank, awarded RAIL with funding support to assist businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To facilitate this assistance, a consultant is needed who will be responsible in developing a personalized plan for targeted businesses along Apache Blvd (Tempe) and Main Street (Mesa), providing a personalized roadmap to recovery.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT:
The Seven members conduct public meetings to hear and decide upon requests for variances, special use permits, and interpretations of the City of Mesa Zoning Ordinance and Sign Code. Members are appointed for staggered terms of three years.
For a full explanation of the duties and responsibilities of the Board of Adjustment, see Title 11 - Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 66, Section 3 of the Mesa Code of Ordinances.
 
DESIGN REVIEW BOARD:
The Design Review Board is unique in that its composition is set by the Zoning Ordinance to include
  • two architects,
  • two from other design professions (i.e. landscape architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design-related background),
  • one contractor or developer, and
  • two citizens.
The purpose and duties of the Design Review Board have changed and evolved over the years. The original purpose of the Board was to hear appeals of decisions made by the Building Safety Division regarding the newly adopted Design Guidelines. It now reviews: buildings of four or more stories in height; any multiple residential projects that exceed the RM-2 density range; commercial and industrial projects that have frontage on an arterial street, or that are part of an existing or planned development that has frontage on an arterial street; and any commercial and industrial projects which have, or will have, greater than twenty thousand (20,000) square feet of gross floor area. The Board also Reviews parking garages and City of Mesa municipal projects.
