Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the sixth and current president of Ukraine, elected in a landslide victory in 2019.
Previously a comedian and actor, he was inspired to enter politics while playing the Ukrainian president in a satirical television series, “Servant of the People,” a role he held when elected.
- Zelenskyy entered the entertainment industry in the early 2000s.
- He founded a television-production company, Kvartal 95, and acted in skits, television shows, and feature films.
- He won the Ukrainian version of “Dancing with the Stars” and voiced the character of Paddington in the eponymous movie about a young bear.
- Zelenskyy earned a law degree from Kyiv National Economic University.
- As a war-time leader against Russia’s invasion in February, he has drawn vast support from the international community.
