Happy Camper Campaign Gets Generous Donation from Whataburger

More Mesa children will be able to enjoy summer camp thanks to a generous donation from Whataburger. The popular restaurant chain donated $1000 through its Feeding Student Success program to the Mesa Parks and Recreation Happy Camper Donation Campaign. Mayor John Giles and Parks and Recreation staff members were joined by Whataburger representatives during a check presentation today.
"Mesa's Parks and Recreation camp programs are the place to be for kids in the hot summer months, and Whataburger's donation is a great gift to the community that will allow more kids to participate," said Mesa Mayor John Giles.
The Happy Camper Donation Campaign was established by the City of Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department to ensure more kids can attend a Mesa Parks and Recreation summer camp and enjoy amazing activities like field trips, recreation games, arts and crafts and endless fun!
"We are grateful to Whataburger for their donation to the Happy Camper Donation Campaign. We don't want kids to miss out on the opportunities and fun of our summer camps due to financial challenges and Whataburger's generosity will give more kids the opportunity to enjoy that experience," said Aimee Manis, Parks and Recreation Deputy Director.
Feeding Student Success is Whataburger's signature community program addressing the needs of food insecurity and education for students.
"Whataburger has seen the importance of programs like Mesa's Happy Camper Campaign and wants to make sure more students get the opportunity to take part," said Kimberly Bastien, Whataburger Field Marketing Coordinator.
There are three ways anyone can donate online to Mesa's Happy Camper Donation Campaign:
Visit mesaparks.com and select the "Registration, Reservations and More" orange button, then click "donations"
You can donate to the Foundation for Mesa Parks and Recreation and select "Happy Camper" from the drop down menu
Donate at checkout when registering your own kids for camp
