CASA GRANDE — Sen. Kyrsten Sinema advised local government leaders to pool their resources when applying for transportation grants and to hammer home their importance to federal officials.

Sinema cited the Biden administration’s solid support of the semiconductor industry in making the United States a chip manufacturing leader.

“We’re so attractive to this level of industry because we have the space available, but it also means that we are building in places where there has not been infrastructure,” Sinema said. “We all know that the president is very interested in bringing microchip productivity back to the U.S. That’s a big deal for him, which means it’s also a big deal for the secretary of transportation. So as we’re writing our applications we need to be making sure that the people who read these grant applications understand that this has to be done.”
