FIRST MASS PROTEST: Trump threatens ‘war’ on Chicago as thousands protest federal crackdown

 

 
Thousands have protested on Saturday  in Washington, DC and Chicago against President Trump’s federal crackdown. 
  • In the capital, over 2,000 National Guard troops and immigration agents patrol streets amid rising unrest. 
  • Trump claims the deployments are to fight crime, but critics say they aim to control Democratic-run cities.

He has threatened “war” on Chicago, sparking outrage and condemnation from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. 
  • Pritzker branded Trump a “wannabe dictator,” warning that waging war on an American city is not normal. 
Protesters denounce mass deportations and the deployment of National Guard troops to US cities. 
  • Meanwhile, DC's local government is challenging the legality of the troop deployment in federal court.
