Recapping this fiscal year by presenting the 2026 MAG Annual Report. Here are three highlights of what has happened over the past 12 months in the MAG region:

MAG 2026 Annual Report

1. Transportation and Infrastructure

Transportation and Infrastructure

Proposition 400 collections ended on December 31, 2025, closing one era of regional transportation investment, while Proposition 479 launched the next day as a new 20-year program to improve freeways, arterial roads, transit, safety, technology and nonmotorized transportation across the region.

MAG continued delivering remaining Proposition 400 commitments while advancing major Proposition 479 milestones, including the groundbreaking of the I-17 and Loop 303 interchange, long-range corridor studies and Regional Council approval of diamond grinding as the standard regional freeway pavement treatment.

2. Environmental Planning

Environmental Planning

MAG completed transportation conformity findings for FY 2026–2030, enabling regional transportation projects to proceed while meeting federal air quality requirements.

The year also included EPA validation of MAG’s ozone modeling demonstration, continued investment in ground-level ozone research, a fireworks awareness campaign to reduce particulate matter and ongoing regional coordination on water quality and solid waste planning.

3. Community Initiatives

MAG advanced regional work on homelessness and relief from extreme heat by convening local agencies, Native nations, service providers, nonprofit partners and people with lived experience around shared data and coordinated action.

A key effort included coordinating the 2026 Point-in-Time Homelessness Count, which identified 9,726 people experiencing homelessness, a flat overall count from the prior year, paired with fewer people unsheltered and more people connected to shelter.
