RUSSIAN NAVY TO DEPLOY NEW ZIRCON HYPERSONIC MISSILE TO PACIFIC #WARTHOG...

7x speed of sound
That's phenomenal and difficult to intercept
The Russian Navy’s latest warship, Gremyashchiy, will carry the Zircon hypersonic anti-ship cruise missiles, its captain and Russian President Vladimir Putin said during Putin’s visit aboard the vessel October 31, according to Russian state media. The warship will be launched later this year and join the Pacific fleet. The missile is seen as a natural counter to the U.S. Navy’s Aegis air defense system. Broadcast Eye-Candy Goes Bad: Donald 'Ill Deuce' ' Mussolini-Moment, The Men-in-White-Coats + The Super-Spreader

All the world's a stage for The P.T. Barnum of American Politics filled with tricks-and-treats in the 24/7 media overload where some of us are merely numb. There are good actors and bad actors and they all have their exits and entrances playing many parts.  Sooner - or later - the American people don't like getting punked as fools some, most, or all of the time.

Super Spreader | The Nib

We have before us choices to be made what to believe: some times the intended optics backfire to bite-back the staged performances turned-bad: Where to start?

From The Poke:

A far-right Trump supporter said the president just had his ‘Mussolini moment’ and wins self-own of the week

As you’ll probably have seen by now, Donald Trump has taken to the White House balcony to show everyone just how well he’s doing despite testing positive for coronavirus just a few days ago.

His supporters were delighted, of course, including far-right political commentator Nick Fuentes, who hosts the America First podcast among many other things.

Here’s what he had to say.

And here are our favourite things people said in response

_________________________________________________________________________________

Maureen Dowd writing in the New York Times:

Manic Panic on the Potomac

Will Mitch ditch the Donald?

WASHINGTON — At long last, a top Republican is distancing himself from Donald Trump.

Literally.

Mitch McConnell has been boasting to colleagues and to reporters in Kentucky that he knew better than to go to the Amy Coney Barrett super-spreader event in the Rose Garden or set foot on that 18 acres of magical thinking known as the White House because he could see that the president and his team were courting danger. At 78, the wily Senate majority leader, a polio survivor, wasn’t taking any chances. . .

McConnell did more than physically distance himself from Trump. He politically distanced himself as well, throwing cold water on the president’s whiplash-inducing reversal on a stimulus bill. . .

Clearly, McConnell does not want to invest whatever capital he has left in reviving Trump when the guy seems doomed. Why bring up an issue that really divides his Republican members weeks before an election that might be a wipeout — with the Senate in the balance?

. . .

Proving once more that there’s no bottom to how low he’ll go, McConnell explained to reporters in Kentucky that he wasn’t ready to push a stimulus deal because “the situation is kind of murky, and I think the murkiness is a result of the proximity to the election and everybody kind of trying to elbow for political advantage.”

So it’s fine to elbow for political advantage and push to replace R.B.G. with an arch conservative who would threaten health care and abortion rights in proximity to the election. But a bill that would help millions of suffering Americans as the economy goes down the tubes? Nah. That’s too murky. . .

Flying Under-The-Radar (The City of Mesa AZ Does This Too) > Options 1, 2 and 3

San Diego PD Uses Police Charity To Buy Off-The-Books Phone Cracking Tech

from the getting-the-goods-without-all-the-hassle dept

A law enforcement agency looking to dodge oversight has a few options. First, there's the 1033 program, which allows agencies to pick up useful things like guns, bullets, armored vehicles, grenade launchers… and… um… filing cabinets, I guess. Going this route means spending federal money rather than local money. So, if you're not spending local tax dollars, you really don't need to ask permission.

Another accountability dodge is the discretionary spending allowed by civil asset forfeiture. Law enforcement agencies directly profit from property seized and are given a lot of latitude on spending those dollars. City/county oversight is rarely involved. Very few localities have implemented strict reporting on seizures so the money flows from victims through cop shops and into the hands of cop tech purveyors.

There's a third option: use private money . . .Donors with deep pockets and minimal concerns about the people they're bypassing pay for surveillance tech and other law enforcement goodies. Again, because no public money is involved, the public is left out of the equation. This happened in Baltimore, . .The same thing is happening elsewhere. Lots of private companies and individuals are buying stuff for police departments, allowing them to circumvent accountability measures. Some of these "private" concerns should be considered public, considering their narrow focus. As ProPublica reported in 2014, the Los Angeles Police Foundation -- a "private" charity -- asked for $200,000 from Target Corp. to buy the Los Angeles Police Department data analytics software from Palantir. It also purchased several automatic license plate readers for the department. No public oversight was involved since it was "private" money.

Joseph Cox reports on more of this public/private bullshit for Motherboard

THE CONCLUSION: "No one's arguing police departments shouldn't have access to tools like these. But if they're using these to perform their public duties, they owe it to the public to inform them about their acquisitions and allow their oversight to do its job. Forming a bunch of "private charities" specifically to provide police departments with off-the-books tech is a spectacularly lousy way to engage in public service."

Reporting With Required Disclosures: Real Estate Developers & The Rose Law Group

For sure like Shakespeare wrote "A rose is a rose is a rose" by any other name would smell as sweet
Ah, Inhale that please. When it comes to The East Valley and the five cities and towns in it - and bordering counties all the way south to Casa Grande and Tucson - there's always a need for attorneys (transactional, tax law and zoning) and law groups to represent all the players on-and-off the stage, other than the public: major industry interests like Finance, Insurance, Real Estate, Government and Politics.

The final act in the development process - that involves influencing public opinion and their input - is to get city councils to approve everything.
That's where what gets reported in mainstream media is an important thing to try to influence, to control and to manipulate to produce the desired outcomes.
Of course there's also something called 'alternative media" - and investigative reporters who are more independent and objective (and not beholden to "special interests" who represent THE PUBLIC RIGHT-TO-KNOW.

We just need to prioritize demand

Opinion: An alarming prediction about Pinal County facing a water shortage is a myth that’s based on outdated assumptions and incomplete data.
By Jordan Rose and Tom Galvin, opinion contributors | azcentral
Mark Twain once wrote of his difficulty with math by ascribing a quote about the flexible power of numbers to British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”
Farmers, developers, landowners, residents and elected officials in Pinal County are now empathetic with Twain because we are trying to dispel a growing notion that Pinal County is out of groundwater.”
The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) is working on revising a model based on outdated assumptions and incomplete data that have perpetuated the myth that Pinal County is facing a water shortage. In fact, Pinal County has plenty of water for today, tomorrow and 100 years from now.
Farmers and cities are good stewards
The agricultural and municipal sectors rely on substantial and robust aquifers and are responsible stewards of water for today’s needs and for future demand.

Jordan Rose: In Real Estate We Trust > How-To-Turn Land Holdings Into Pay-Dirt

Here's Jordan Rose - a feature in one of today's posts that covers a lot of territory all about real estate development. In particular it's about one pending project in Southeast Mesa named Hawes Crossing.
If you're wondering what Jordan Rose does, she tells you herself in less-than-a-minute is a streaming video uploaded to YouTube last year . . . "she [and The Rose Law Group] gets governments to do of not to do something. . ."
Vague enough. . .QUESTION: What's that something?
And how does her law group get all the goodie$ delivered?
Here's just the most recent media report by Jim Walsh that tells you what that "something" is all about:
Millions of dollars ride on E. Mesa vote
By Jim Walsh, Tribune Staff Writer
East Valley Tribune | 2019-12-15T01:00:00-07:00
"After months of public meetings, the massive Hawes Crossing development is heading toward a vote by the Mesa City Council in January, with only one member opposing it and millions of dollars riding on the decision. . . "
"If the zoning changes requested by attorney Jordan Rose are approved, that vote would unlock the potential for development of more than 1,100 acres in an aircraft overflight area two miles from Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport.
It also will enable six dairy farmers to sell their 535 acres and relocate to a more pastoral setting.
While the dairy farms have come to symbolize Hawes Crossing, which plans to use a white and silver dairy-oriented theme, the Arizona Land Department stands to benefit just as much if not more so.
Hawes Crossing includes 595 state-owned acres that likely would be sold in a lucrative auction if the council approves the zoning.
“There’s a lot of money on the table,’’ Rose said – not only for the dairymen and the state but also for Mesa through taxes and other revenues like development fees.
“I think it was monumentally important that the staff show that the vast majority (of Hawes Crossing) is in the county,’’ Rose said.
“It’s important to get control over that much property so you get revenue out of it. The revenues are going to come to the city or the county. . . ’’ . . .
