House Republicans introduce resolution supporting law enforcement, condemning defund the police movement
FIRST ON FOX: A pair of House Republicans are dropping a resolution ahead of National Police Week supporting law enforcement and condemning the defund the police movement.
GOP Reps. Ken Buck of Colorado and Andy Biggs of Arizona are introducing a new resolution to expressing the House of Representatives’ support of local law enforcement and "condemning efforts to defund or dismantle local law enforcement agencies."
...Biggs told Fox News Digital that Americans "must ‘back the blue’ now more than ever."
"Crime is surging across our cities in virtually every major statistic," Biggs said. "These heroes are the only ones putting themselves in harm’s way to uphold our rule of law and ensure public safety.’
"These courageous men and women volunteer to keep our communities safer every day. At the very least, they deserve our gratitude and respect," the Arizona Republican continued. "I am grateful to introduce this much-needed resolution along with my good friend Congressman Buck."
In addition to the House resolution putting the lower chamber’s support behind local law enforcement and condemning the defund the police movement, the resolution slams "leftist activists and progressive politicians" who "called for the defunding and dismantling of local police departments across the country and actively encouraged resentment toward local law enforcement."
21 House Republicans Voted Against Congressional Medals for Officers Who Defended Capitol Against Insurrection

Several Republican members of the House of Representatives voted Tuesday against awarding Congressional Gold Medals to law enforcement officers who responded to the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol building, which threatened the lives of those same lawmakers and their colleagues. Though the measure passed by a huge margin with 406 votes, 21 Republicans voted against it.
Some Republicans initially objected to the term “insurrectionist,” which was included in the resolution’s first version. In all, four Gold Medals will be printed: one for the Capitol Police, one for the Washington, D.C. police, one for the Smithsonian Institute, and one to be displayed in the Capitol.

Pete Buttigieg Exposes House Republicans For Threatening Americans’ Safety
President Joe Biden’s team is continuing to try and expose the truth around Congressional Republicans’ plans for the economy.
Recently, the Republican majority in the House approved a debt ceiling and spending plan that would force what Democrats have characterized as 22 percent cuts across key federal teams and initiatives in line with a forced reduction in what’s known as discretionary spending to 2022 levels. Notably, that overall reduction was also part of demands from the far-right group in the House known as the House Freedom Caucus, which has featured involvement over the years of figures like GOP Reps. Jim Jordan (Ohio) and Andy Biggs (Ariz.). The correlation exemplifies the opportunistic veer even further to the Right under Kevin McCarthy’s leadership.
“House Republicans want to cut funding for air travel & rail safety, which will: – Close 375 Air Traffic Control Towers – Increase airport security wait times by up to 2 hrs – Reduce rail inspections,” Buttigieg said. “Their proposal would hurt communities and raise costs for families.” Although the veracity of the metrics has been questioned, a tabulation of views on Buttigieg’s post said it was already seen over a quarter of a million times.
Considering other statements of concern from the White House about the GOP plan have also referenced drops in the pace of railway inspections, it seems that’s what Buttigieg is also discussing here. The problem is that action on the debt ceiling, which concerns actions the federal government can take to address spending to which officials previously agreed and needs raised by June, is needed rather urgently! Democrats have sought a plan without accompanying legislative priorities attached.
