A medical practitioner has shredded 79-year-old Donald Trump’s incredible claim to have had absolutely “no idea” what body part he went in to get scanned.

“You know when you get an MRI what part of your body is going into the very narrow part of that MRI scanner because you hear it.. ."

Dr. Vin Gupta
, a public health physician and former Amazon Chief Medical Officer, called "utter nonsense" Donald Trump's claim that a recent MRI was part of a routine physical and that he had "no idea" what body part was scanned
.
Doctor's Rebuttal
  • Not a routine physical: Dr. Gupta, along with other physicians like former White House doctor Jeffrey Kuhlman and Dr. Jonathan Reiner, stated that an MRI is never a standard part of a routine check-up, whether for a president or a civilian.
  • Poor screening tool: Gupta explained that MRIs are actually a "terrible screening tool" for general check-ups because they often produce false positives, leading to unnecessary worry and further testing.
  • Patient awareness: Gupta dismissed the claim that Trump wouldn't know what was being scanned, noting that an MRI involves a loud magnet beating for several minutes, making the location of the scan obvious to the patient.
  • Indicates specific concerns: The physicians suggested that an MRI would only be ordered if there was a specific underlying condition or a reason for suspicion, such as monitoring for changes in cognitive function or existing neurological issues.
