Residents here in downtown who live within blocks of the intersection of South Center Street/Broadway have made noise complaints for years when these trains make the turn onto Broadway with the high-decibel blasting of way-too-many extremely loud ear-shattering toots and nerve-shattering teeth-gritting metal shrieks of wheels hitting the tracks. It is A QUALITY OF LIFE ISSUE

When one resident asked District4 Council member Jennifer Duff to look into the problem, she replied "There's nothing that can be done."
Now that is really hard, if not impossible to believe

The derailment happened near Broadway Road and Center Streetaround 8 p.m. Thursday.
Arizona's Family news chopper flew over the scene of the derailment. We counted close to a dozen cars that had flipped on their sides.
