Dead by Daylight Core Memory Challenge Guide (Killers & Survivors)
Both Killers and Survivors in Dead by Daylight have a chance to complete the Core Memory Ascension challenge for extra rewards at the end of a match.
With update 6.7.0 of Dead by Daylight, players can tackle a new set of challenges called Core Memory as both a Survivor or Killer that are a part of character background descriptions. Included with Tome 15 - Ascension, beating these challenges gives players some insight into the history of characters in the game. In addition, there are rewards outside of visuals in the Tome, including important Rift Fragments used to unlock new cosmetics.
During a Trial match as either a Killer or Survivor, players might notice a new type of object appear named a Memory Shard. These items are placed randomly on every map as part of the Tome 15 - Ascension patch for players to collect. Similar to the Bone Chill Winter Event in Dead by Daylight, the gameplay changes seen with this update are likely temporary as players try to complete the Core Memory challenges.
How To Complete The Core Memory Challenges
One wayplayers cano beat the Core Memory challenge is to synchronize Memory Shards at an Archive Portal during a Trial. About 9 Memory Shards spawn on a map when players begin as a Survivor or Kille, and act as a secondary objective. These items look like small, floating gemstones that players may only pick up when they have a Core equipped.
Once players collect enough of these Shards, an Archive Portal appears, indicated by a white aura that shines similar to Generators. Crackling with small, lightning-like features on a jagged white rift, these Archive Portals are hard to miss, even alongside other important objects. Players need to bring at least 3 Shards to this location to meet the challenge requirements.
Players have to synchronize collected Memory Shards to complete the Cory Memory challenge, either by connecting them with an Archive Portal or completing a Trial with the items gathered.
Going to the Archive Portal gives players a prompt to synchronize with their Memory Shards for a 2-second duration. After doing this, players are granted a 3% Haste Status Effect for 15 seconds, which can be helpful in both roles. The other way to complete the challenge is quite simple: either escaping or dying as the Survivor or ending the match as the Killer to automatically synch with any gathered Shards.
Rewards From The Cory Memory Challenge
Once the challenge is beaten, players receive 5 Rift Fragments, 25,000 Bloodpoints, and 1 Memory Fragment as their rewards. Rift Fragments are used to build Rift Tiers, which are typically associated with cosmetic items. Players familiar with unlocking the Moonlight Burrow cosmetic items in Dead by Daylight should recognize how the Memory Shard minigame has many similarities to this challenge.
Bloodpoints, on the other hand, are general character progression currencies that players can use to purchase Unlockables from Bloodwebs. The Memory Fragment earned gives players a special visual related to a character added to their Journal.
