On June 30, 2023 the rulemaking docket was opened for the adoption of drinking water maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) as AWQS. Since then, we have developed a standardized approach for reviewing drinking water

MCLs for the classification as an AWQS and have made the determination to adopt the following seven MCLs

  • arsenic,
  • bromate,
  • chlorite,
  • microbiological contaminants,
  • haloacetic acids,
  • total trihalomethanes, and
  • uranium.
