Back in 2014 It is a virtual manifestation of the intensifying rivalry between Russia and the West playing out in Ukraine. Coup Attempt in process

Nuland famously traveled to Kiev to support the Maidan protests in December 2013, handing out pastries to the crowds demanding a pact with the EU. In a February 2014 phone call, she discussed the composition of the future Ukrainian government with US ambassador to Kiev Geoffrey Pyatt. Three weeks later, the nationalists would violently seize power from President Viktor Yanukovich, triggering events that would lead to Crimea rejoining Russia and clashes in the Donbass.

US forming ‘colonial administration’ in Ukraine – Russian spy chief

Washington has told President Zelenskyy to put Western-educated officials in key roles, Sergey Naryshkin claims

Washington has begun creating “a colonial administration” in Ukraine consisting of local politicians who have sworn allegiance to the US, the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has said.

  • The US government has demanded that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky “remove” dozens of high-ranking officials, whom Washington no longer trusts, from their posts under various pretexts, Sergey Naryshkin claimed on Monday.
  • Washington wants those jobs to be filled by “Ukrainians trained in the West, who have sworn allegiance to American interests,” he said in comments cited by the SVR press service.
  • “As part of the policy of total vassalization of Ukraine, the US has started forming what is essentially a colonial administration in that country,” the spy chief stated.
According to Naryshkin, the required changes in the Ukrainian government were relayed to Zelensky during his visit to Washington in December.
“The Americans are pushing for Ukrainian ambassador to Washington Oksana Markarova, who received her education at Indiana University Bloomington, to take the post of prime minister.
The deputy head of the Finance Ministry, Alexander Kava, who studied at Harvard University, is being suggested for the job of finance minister.
The current deputy head of the Economy Ministry, Taras Kachka, a graduate of Poland’s National School of Public Administration (KSAP), is recommended for the post of economy minister,” he said.

  • The latest high-profile change in the Ukrainian cabinet follows the pattern described by Naryshkin.
  • Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who replaced Zelensky’s ally Aleksey Reznikov in the job last fall, used to participate in the Future Leaders Exchange program, funded by the US State Department.

The Biden administration, which is in possession of a “killer corruption dossier” on members of Zelenksy’s inner circle, is threatening to make this information public if Ukrainian leader refuses to greenlight the desired personnel decisions, the spy chief claimed.

“Zelensky realizes that the damaging data that the Americans have is capable of destroying him as president. In this situation, he’ll continue to dance to the tune of his American masters,” Naryshkin predicted.

Russia Spy Chief Says USAID Program Alumni Are 'Fifth Column'

The US, which has provided Zelensky’s government with $111 billion in military and economic assistance since the start of the conflict with Russia, already has advisers embedded in all key Ukrainian ministries, but Washington believes this is not enough and is “steadily increasing Kiev’s feudal dependence,” Naryshkin said.

MADRID, January 22. /TASS/. The European Union and its member countries have provided Kiev with ammunition and weapons worth 30 billion euros and trained almost 40,000 Ukrainian soldiers during the conflict with Russia, top EU diplomat Josep Borrell said in an article for the Spanish newspaper El Pais.

  • "The EU and its member states have provided unprecedented economic, humanitarian and military support, supplying Ukraine with ammunition and weapons worth almost 30 billion euros and training almost 40,000 Ukrainian soldiers on EU territory," he said.
  • He said the conflict helped strengthen "transatlantic unity."
  • "However, we have often been too slow to deliver the necessary weapons to Ukraine and have acted only when it appeared that Russia could move forward," Borrell conceded.
"With an eye to the future, we need a paradigm shift: We need to move from supporting Ukraine 'for as long as it takes' to committing to 'whatever it takes' for it to achieve victory."

  • At the latest EU summit in Brussels from December 14-15, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocked amendments to the EU's 2024-2027 budget proposal that would have provided 50 billion euros to Ukraine.
  • Hungary proposed to provide financial aid to Kiev incrementally, on an annual basis, and with strict control over spending. Budapest also called for using extra-budgetary sources of financing, instead of taking out common loans.
