Principles of relations with Kiev to take shape after special military operation — Kremlin
As the Russian president’s press
secretary pointed out, "if the parties manage to embark upon the path of
a diplomatic settlement, then this would already proceed under the
variant preferable for us"
MOSCOW,
July 27. /TASS/. The principles of future relations between Russia and
Ukraine will take shape after the objectives of the special military
operation are fulfilled, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, replying
to a TASS question.
The theme of bilateral relations after the special military operation "is a too theoretical issue now," he said.
- "First of all, it is necessary to settle the problem after all and we need to secure the fulfillment of the objectives assigned for the special military operation.
- It is preferable for us to achieve this by political and diplomatic means, while the special military operation continues in the conditions when all the proposals on the dialogue were rejected by Ukraine itself and its Western handlers,"--- the Kremlin spokesman said.
As the Russian president’s press secretary pointed out,
"if the
parties manage to embark upon the path of a diplomatic settlement, then
this would already proceed under the variant preferable for us."
"But it is primarily necessary to settle the situation and then think about how to build relations," Peskov said.
On July 23, Russia and Ukraine held a third round of direct
negotiations in Istanbul on settling the conflict.
- Following the results of the meeting, the parties agreed on the exchange of both military personnel and civilians.
- Russia also proposed setting up three working groups online to deal with political, military and humanitarian issues.
- Moscow also offered to transfer another 3,000 bodies of fallen Ukrainian servicemen to Kiev and restart brief humanitarian pauses at the frontline to evacuate the wounded and collect the bodies of fallen servicemen.

Kiev’s abandonment of territorial claims to lead to success in talks — expert
US President Donald Trump "is
serious about trying to resolve the Ukraine Russia conflict and is doing
the best that he can, considering the fact that it takes two willing
parties to resolve any conflict," American political commentator Steve
Gill added
MOSCOW,
July 27. /TASS/. Territorial claims of authorities in Kiev prevent
talks on settlement of the conflict in Ukraine from being successful,
American political commentator Steve Gill told TASS.
As long as Zelenskiy
- "continues to demand that Russia abandon the Donbas region where the population has already voted overwhelmingly to join the Russian Federation;
- that Crimea returned to the control of Ukraine, after voters there made their choice a decade ago;
- that Ukraine join NATO despite repeated promises from the West that that was not going to; and
- continues to block elections,
- ban independent media,
- ban opposition political parties,
- attack the Russian Orthodox Church and
- disband the anti-corruption government agencies in Ukraine under the guise of ‘Democracy,’
--- said Gill, who served as a director of
intergovernmental affairs for the US trade representative in the
Executive Office of the President under both George H. W. Bush and Bill
Clinton administrations.
US President Donald Trump "is serious about trying to resolve the
Ukraine Russia conflict and is doing the best that he can, considering
the fact that it takes two willing parties to resolve any conflict," the
expert noted.
"Unfortunately, President Trump continues to receive inaccurate
information about the actual conflict, its origins, and its current
status, making his ability to act as a fair mediator almost impossible," --- Gill stressed.
The
more often the leaders of the United States and Russia will talk
directly, the higher the probability for resolution of the conflict will
be, he added.
