Zheleznyak said this was the first time it was not lawmakers requesting a meeting, but Zelenskyy himself demanding it.
  • He added there was no set date yet, but it would likely be held Tuesday through Thursday, when lawmakers convene for a session of parliament.
  • Lawmakers were being asked to submit questions to the president in advance, he said.

On his YouTube channel, Zheleznyak said it was likely the first case when Zelenskyy decided to gather members of his party twice in four weeks.

He claimed the purpose of the meeting was to show lawmakers’ active support for the president, particularly after the negative coverage of the previous meeting in the media.

“There is a high likelihood that after the meeting the number of votes among lawmakers will remain unchanged; many lawmakers may not want to raise critical questions,” he suggested.

Later, faction spokeswoman Yulia Paliychuk told Interfax-Ukraine that the meeting with the president was planned for October 6–10, as previously reported officially. She said the president had not demanded the meeting but that it was arranged by agreement. She also said no personnel decisions would be discussed.

  • On Sept. 16, Ukrainska Pravda, citing informed sources among lawmakers from Servant of the People and Paliychuk, reported that Zelenskyy met with lawmakers of his faction at the Presidential Office.
  • The president stressed that in the event of worsening conditions on the front line, “difficult decisions” might be necessary.
On Sept. 23, Politico wrote that at last week’s meeting with the Servant of the People faction,

Zelenskyy expressed frustration with internal criticism and disappointment in his own party.

The outlet reported that the Ukrainian leader focused on martial law and clearly indicated his intent to run in any elections that take place afterward.

At the same time, three NV sources in the Servant of the People faction denied that elections were discussed at the meeting with lawmakers.

“In fact, elections were not discussed at all,” one lawmaker told NV.

Politico’s article did not make clear what source or statement it based its claim on regarding Zelenskyy’s potential candidacy in the next elections.
