PANTS ON FIRE

On Feb. 11, one day after ProPublica published its article, a Forest Service cache manager — an official who oversees a gear repository — wrote in an email that he asked colleagues to distribute widely, “I received notice from the Washington Office Cache Management staff late last night that we are to place a hold on issuing” the pants. 
  • But the agency didn’t immediately clarify further. 
A wildland firefighter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect their employment said last week that incident management teams had been asking the agency for advice about the pants. 
“As of right now, our logistics folks haven’t gotten any guidance at all from higher-ups,” ----the firefighter said
