The Maddison Project Database is a world-renowned repository of historical economic statistics that provides long-run data on gross domestic product (GDP), GDP per capita, and population.

Maintained by the Groningen Growth and Development Centre (GGDC)
at the University of Groningen, it standardizes historical national
accounts to enable deep comparative insights into global economic
development dating as far back as AD 1
More recently, it has grown into a research centre that studies the
interactions of globalisation, technology and institutional change, and
its impact on long-run economic growth, structural change, productivity
and inequality.
