A BIG BRAVO > Chef Jose Andres Making Profound Changes On A Global Scale

Extremely excited to see how the crazy dreams of old friends from the 1990's in New York City in the world of food and hospitality take things way beyond the next level. Today on "Fresh Air" Host Terry Gross aired a 41:43 minute interview with someone your MesaZona blogger admired and liked a long time ago while he was the executive chef at El Dorado Petite at the same time your truly was the executive chef for Special Events at The Loeb Boathouse inside Central Park. We all worked crazy bizzy 60-80 or more full-time hours per week making the places we worked in successful.

Back in those times Jose Ramon arrived in New York City from Spain at the age of 20 - half my age. We somehow became friends and colleagues inside and outside of work after he took over from Antonio Buendia at a restaurant named El Dorado Petite on 58th Street.
As it turned out, six people who worked with me at The Loeb Boathouse also worked at the same time for Jose Andres, just by the coincidence of chance. From that  connection we got to know each other at their workplaces and socially for Chefs Nights Out plus other occasions.
That was then and this interview on "Fresh Air" is now . . . please take the time or bookmark the link to listen to Jose has to say. Yes now he is making profound changes on a global scale.

The former CEO of Valley Metro plead guilty to a class five felony Monday. Stephen Banta has admitted to misusing the organization’s money. Banta used his position at Valley Metro to pay more than $30,000 in personal travel and dining expenses. That’s according to a statement from Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich. Of that amount, about $3,000 involved public money. Banta entered into a plea agreement for probation. The terms and conditions of the probation will be left to the court. LDS Sex-Shaming Scandal In Texas Hits The Headlines Here in Mesa

Not to take any attention away from this surprising report by Chris McCrory just minutes ago, but it looks like practically most established religions are getting some more attention that's all about sexual misconduct. It was just a matter of time before this headline published today . . . what else might be in the spotlight is anyone's informed guess.
Read it for yourselves - this one's about a bishop

Archeological Evidence of History Before The Pioneers

Your MesaZona blogger must have caught "the history bug" as a kid growing up for a few years in a place called Canonchet Farm in Narragansett, Rhode Island. Strange name for a large piece of land above some salt ponds. Looking deeper it turned out to be in pre-colonial history the last sachem of The Narragansett Indians after wars between First Peoples and settlers in the 17th Century.
The Indians were displaced. We now only have artifacts.
To make a long story short, way too much of "Pre-History: has been white-washed by fabricated LDS attempts to make-over history. Here in Mesa we are fortunate to have more than artifacts. We can now see evidence of earlier cultures and maps like the one shown to the right of the Rio Salado Valley and a system of canals superimposed on a gridwork that permits us to locate areas of what became land claims by Mormon settlers sent from Utah to expand their Kingdom of Deseret in The New Zion.
NOTE: The Spanish word MESA on the map in Section 22.
NOTE: The Spanish word "acequias" or irrigation ditches
NOTE ALSO: The Spanish word "Pueblo"  (small village or town) that marks where people are living settled on the land
_________________________________________________________________________
^ Now please take a look at the concentration and high density of dots in the upper-right corner of the enlarged cropping from the map shown to the left - the word MORONI (the name of an angel from The Book of Mormon) is appended to the Spanish word Pueblo in a section of concentrations of centuries-old settlements with "many small reservoirs and temples". Places of worship. sacred ground - clearly marked on this historic map.
_________________________________________________________________________
What is your MesaZona blogger getting at focusing on just that one word temples?
Simply because it's not unusual for one civilization or culture to attempt to bury or cover over signs of earlier cultures, physically removing from sight or building structures on top of the sights of earlier

Let's tie-in a couple of loose threads to see how far-fetched the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints can go to claim some unbelievable connection with The Israelites and A TALE OF TWO NATIONS.
The LDS Temple grounds here in Mesa on Main Street was designed to look like and mimic a Jewish temple in the Holy Land of Palestine to give the impression that somehow the tribes of Israel and Mormon settlers have historic roots - even claiming to have found evidence of Israelites in The New World thousands of years ago!
The  opening image is taken from the Book of Mormon Archeological News http://taleof2nations.blogspot.com/2011/05/
"Illuminating the credibility of the Book of Mormon through archaeological photographs. Book of Mormon Archaeology is real, authentic, scientifically researched, a proven fact. Claims Book of Mormon Archaeology is based upon scant evidence is deception for the masses. Ancient Israelites did come to America over 2400 years ago. Here you find the photographic, archaeological, and Biblical evidences. B.O.M.A.N. reveals hard evidences Jesus did came to another ancient people besides the Jews.
Now The Evidence Headlines: Archaeologist 'strikes gold' with finds of ancient Nasca iron ore mine in Peru ". . . Archeologist Kevin Vaughn hypothesizes that the Nasca people used the red-pigmented mineral primarily for ceramic paints, but they also could have used it as body paint, to paint textiles and even to paint adobe walls. The Nasca civilization is known for hundreds of drawings in the Nasca Desert, which are known as the Nasca-Lines and can only be seen from the air, and for an aqueduct system that is still used today. . Vaughn and his team discovered a number of artifacts in the mine, including corncobs, stone tools, and pieces of textiles and pottery.     Next, Vaughn will be excavating a habitation site that has a 4,000-year occupation in hopes of understanding the long-term settlement history of the region.

QUETZALCOATL, 12 DISCIPLES?
SHEPHERDS STAFF?
THE WHITE GOD AT THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE; MEXICO CITY
Blogger Note: Some people might think this is really a stretch of an archeologist's or anyone's stretch or twist of imagination to read into this place on The Zocalo in Mexico City.
Ancient Israelites did come to America over 2400 years ago?????????????

NONSENSE

QUETZALCOATL, 12 DISCIPLES? SHEPHERDS STAFF? THE WHITE GOD AT THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE; MEXICO CITY
"Diego Rivera a full blood Indian artist, completed a history of Mexico. The history is painted in murals on the vast inner walls of the presidential palace in Mexico City. Rivera's artistic history of Mexico begins with the depiction of the presence of Quetzalcoatl, the white god who visited ancient Mexico and means of his departure. Do you see a staff in similitude of shepherds crook? Please note there are 12 men, 10 men immediately in front of Quetzalcoatl, one man walking away, look lower right corner, the head of one man barely visible right hand corner. A seen SCENE (the dude can't even spell correctly!) straight from the Biblical account of the garden in Jerusalem, . . "

Preposterous Claims From Slow Jammin' Mesa Mayor John Giles Earn Him 2 More Pinocchios

For a hyper-local news and entertainment source that your MesaZona blogger publishes after almost four years walking many times around the downtown blocks, the mayor makes it way-too-easy to poke some fun at, all in good faith of course.
We are indeed blessed to have so many opportunities to bear testimony and to witness a constant stream of revelations, even when he has a team of handlers and a chief-of-staff.
Now who could have imagined one of the best public relations stunts John Giles tried to pull-off just a couple a couple of years ago in this iconic image at his second State-Of-The-City Speech that was captured by Ivan Martinez >
John Giles: The Devil's Advocate
2 years later he's still pushing to re-package a PR campaign
to trick voters into approving about $75,000,000 for one new "virtual reality" and "gaming" building to house brick-and-mortar ASU programs for transient students in the Ozone.
_________________________________________________________________________
At that same SOTC speech Giles admitted publicly he needs help with getting new ideas. Last August  at the annual Summer U.S. Conference of Mayors in New Orleans, the subject of new ideas was discussed by nine of the mayors, where this was one of the topics:
What also seems to be lacking in Washington right now is new ideas. If you could get a little time with top leaders in Washington and just shake them and say “Pay attention to this,” what would “this” be?
Three others mayors brought up minimizing employee overtime, transportation initiatives and spending $120M for 15 new rail lines in Los Angeles, and taking on the pension crisis
John Giles (R), Mesa, Arizona: I’ll throw in a different perspective: that of a border state. NAFTA, as you know, is under real attack. That is putting a lot of border states like Arizona and California and Texas into a tizzy, because we spend a lot of time doing international-trade development. We’re coming up with some great ideas in my community; we’re talking about becoming a hub for e-commerce for Mexico by getting pre-clearance from Customs for packages leaving Mesa’s airport, and we came up with this without any assistance from the federal government. I wish they would come to our communities and figure out how to do international trade."

Here again - and just on Thursday of last week - U.S. Conference of Mayors leaders say they're eager for capital to start flowing under the new economic development program.
Apparently John Giles is more eager for that Ozone wealth-creation here in Mesa:
"Nobody's waiting," said Mayor John Giles of Mesa, Arizona, who also attended the meeting. "I think the regs will come at about the right time for people to say 'I'm going to write a check now.'"
Blogger Note: Giles likes that phrase "'I'm going to write a check now."                              QUESTION: To Who?????
Earlier Giles stated he's been meeting in his office inside City Hall with private real estate developers who want to know how much he wants . . .

WASHINGTON — A group of mayors let Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin know during a meeting here on Thursday that they're itching to see forthcoming guidance for the Opportunity Zones program and offered suggestions about what they'd like it to include.
One point the mayors emphasized is that they would like to see the guidelines allow other federal and state tax incentive and economic development programs to be used in conjunction with the Opportunity Zones initiative, which offers tax breaks meant to attract private investment to low-income communities. . .
Columbia, SC mayor Steve Benjamin didn't offer specifics beyond saying "I wouldn't be surprised if we saw something meaningful this fall" when asked if the secretary gave any indication about when the guidelines might be issued. In July, a top White House economic adviser suggested the guidance would be out by the end of summer.
In response to an email asking if the department had any comment on Thursday's meeting, or could offer details on when the guidance might be issued, a Treasury spokesperson referred to a tweet from Mnuchin's Twitter account that said it was "Great to discuss opportunity zones with some dedicated members of the US Conference of Mayors," but offered no other information

Here in Mesa, AZ we are waiting for John Giles to provide the leadership unless he needs to wait for others to put words-in-his-mouth . . 5 months later after the "Opportunity Zones were announced.
