Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has added a third way to fire your weapon. Traditional CoD titles have let players fire their weapons from the hip or while aiming down sights, but MW3 adds a third option to the mix: Tactical Stance.

Tactical Stance is a hybrid of hipfire and ADS aiming, offering the mobility of a hipfire build with far greater accuracy. Most non-sniper weapons can use Tac Stance, and it's a requirement for unlocking some of MW3's most prestigious camos. In this short guide, we'll explain how to enter Tactical Stance, how to rebind this key, and showcase some of the best attachments you can use to improve your Tac Stance accuracy.

How To Enter Tactical Stance

By default, you can activate Tactical Stance by aiming your weapon and pressing down on the D-Pad. PC users must aim their weapons and press the melee key ("V" by default). This will reposition your weapon at a slight angle and adjust your weapon's performance.

Rebind Tactical Stance

You can rebind your Tactical Stance toggle under Controller (or Mouse & Keyboard) -> Gameplay -> Tactical Stance Activation. We recommend binding it to "ADS + Sprint" or "ADS + Melee."

While in Tac Stance, you strafe faster and gain tighter hipfire accuracy. Tactical Stance uses its own accuracy stat that can be separately modified in the Gunsmith menu. Your strafe speed is roughly 10% slower than the movement speed value listed on the weapon's detailed stat screen.

Generally, Tactical Stance is ideal for clearing corners and small rooms. Since it uses a conal accuracy system like hipfire, it will become far less accurate at longer distances. To get more consistent Tactical Stance kills, you'll need to improve your Tac Stance spread.

How To Improve Tactical Stance Accuracy

Modern Warfare 3 RAM With Tac Stance Underbarrel

The only way to improve your Tactical Stance accuracy in Modern Warfare 3 is through weapon attachmentsTactical Stance modifiers are typically found on attachments that boost hipfire performance. Some common categories include barrels, stocks, underbarrels, and lasers.

In the above example, we equip the Bruen Bastion Angled Grip onto the RAM-7. This provides a 20% tighter spread by itself, but this value changes when you start equipping other Tac Stance attachments. Attachments that modify the same stat will stack multiplicatively, so you want to throw on as many Tac Stance attachments as you can.
With a full build of nothing but Tac Stance attachments, the RAM-7 now has a spread angle of 0.7°. That's tight enough to consistently kill enemies from 25 meters. Stack as many Tac Stance attachments as possible to maximize the value of each attachment.
