Donald Trump has announced 30% tariffs on the EU, provoking a reaction from Brussels.
The EU Commission President Ursula von Der Leyen has stated that the EU will retaliate.
Trump, for his part has stated that retaliation is futile and warned that he might increase these tariffs on the EU.
The EU has backed down from increasing digital taxes on US companies just days ago, in what was a major victory for Trump.
Zelensky has stated that his meetings with Trump as of late, have been more positive.
Certain European leaders welcome Trump’s slight shift in tone regarding the war in Ukraine and Vladimir Putin.
The sources report that Ukraine's Western allies still believe that Trump is inclined to see Putin as his main partner in negotiating any settlement and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the main obstacle to a workable peace deal.
"There’s a little bit of overexcitement based on a shift in tone," one of the officials said.
Estonia’s Foreign Minister, Margus Tsakhna has called for more sanctions on Russia, after the latest missile and drone attacks on Ukraine.
