During
his remarks, President Trump encouraged regional leaders to "unleash
the power of our militaries" against cartels, comparing the proposed
effort to the coalition that fought the Islamic State. He also used the
summit to issue warnings against adversaries like Cuba. Critics have
noted that while the U.S. offers "militarization and deportations,"
rival powers like China continue to offer trade and investment, creating
a complex geopolitical landscape for regional leaders
