Agenda for Monday Sept 17 2018 Mesa City Council Meeting

Plenty of time to look this over for "various" items
KNOW WHAT THE ARE?
Know how to talk to or contact your elected Mesa City Council district representative?
If citizens are not involved or engaged in their government that you elect and you pay the salaries to represent your interests and concerns, the guys in the suits-and-ties don't have any idea how to do their jobs for the interests of people who live in their districts > give them some feedback.
NOTE: There are three districts where candidates want your votes - are you satisfied with what they have done for you?

The entire agenda:

A Sweet Sixteen-Minute Mesa City Council "Study Session"

By now we all know that Arizona doesn't rank high when it comes to education. Like they say "there's a lot of room for improvement", especially here in Mesa, recently ranked #29 out of 44 in a recent research report by Zippia of the Top Smart Cities in every state published two weeks ago.
An important part of education is knowing how to study and putting in the time to do it, with more in-depth concentration in study sessions that are frequently outlined and presented as agendas for participants to do their homework ahead of time.
Here in Mesa the elected City Council is the represented government with the mayor earning a full-time salary and six councilmembers earning part-time salaries. They get paid for time spent on-the-job involved in "various" meetings that we know nothing about since there are no public schedules released by any of them. What we do know ahead of time are what's on the agendas for public meetings. It's a normal thing to expect.

Notice that mayor John Giles  is simply said to be away, excused with no information at all - apparently from this image posted on Twitter he was with some other mayors "discussing" Opportunity Zones" with the Secretary of The Treasury
Perhaps the mayor would like to tell the people who live here in Mesa what his part and contributions to the discussion were??
_________________________________________________________________________________
Watch how they study!  Believe it or not, with the mayor excused, Vice Mayor David Luna actually does an item-by-item reading of Monday's agenda . . . It's a Lo-Fi meeting with an unusual and surprising degree of participation this time around

Review of Agenda for Mon meetings
Jeremy Whittaker asks about Item 5-k with response by Jeff McVay and City Manager Chris Brady when only one bid was received.

IT'S PARTICIPATION DAY for Mark Freeman chimes in ... asking about bingo applications, type of funding for the ten facades, and command center grant Item 6
Kevin Thompson engages about the intent - where the owner would have to pay . CDBG dollars are now paying for most of the façade improvement with minimal contribution by the owners.
Brady says it's "not new"....question of use of CBDG dollars. Brady can't remember the intent
