They also consider and recommend changes in the City's long-range plans and in the Municipal Code concerning planning and zoning matters.

"Nana" Kusi Appiah
Prior to joining the City of Mesa, Kusi Appiah served as the Development Services Manager for Adams County, Colorado
- Prior to his employment with Adams County, Nana worked as a city planner and planning supervisor for the City of Denton, Texas
- Appiah began his professional career in Polk County, Florida
- a doctorate degree in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas
- a master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University
- a bachelor’s degree from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana
- A member of the American Institute of Certified Planners
He has completed the Executive Education Program in Public Leadership at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
