The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) invites stakeholders to review and comment on the Aquifer Water Quality Standards (AWQS) rulemaking “Standard Work” presented at the Stakeholder Meeting on June 8, 2023.

The stepwise, “Standard Work” flow chart was designed as a method for executing the requirements of A.R.S. § 49-223 (A) & (B). It includes a methodology for the consideration of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Maximum Contaminate Level (MCL) Assumptions in ADEQ’s determination of the appropriateness of an MCL as an AWQS, as well as a methodology for establishing an alternative AWQS, should the MCL receive an inappropriate determination.
