Russians pulling motley crew of troops into Ukraine’s eastern operational zone – army spox

The enemy is drawing all possible types of troops into the operational zone of Ukraine’s Eastern Group of Forces, including paratroopers and a number of PMCs.

That’s according to the spokesman for Operational Command East, Serhiy Cherevatyi, who spoke on the air of the national telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"They are pulling all kinds of units into our operational area – these are airborne units, infantry, the Bars combat reserve, territorial forces, and a number of other smaller PMCs such as Patriot, Fakel, and Veterans. The latest were the Storm Z assault companies. This replica of Wagner Group was established under the Military Draft Offices. There are probably more than 170,000 of them in our operational zone," he said.

Cherevatyi emphasized that the number is the only advantage that remains with the enemy, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces do not allow this advantage to be utilized to achieve actual major successes.

"Being more trained and motivated, we force the enemy to retreat," noted the spokesman for Group East.

According to him, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, and Special Operations Center A of the SBU are decimating enemy equipment with maximum accuracy. Cherevatyi emphasized that almost every enemy target is hit in up to two shots.

"The enemy doesn't have that precision because unfortunately they still have quite a large volume of these shells. We don't have that luxury, so this forced us to do our job at our best quality," he explained.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Forces advanced from 600 to 1,000 meters on the southern and northern flanks around Bakhmut on Sunday.

China supports Russia in maintaining national stability - MFA

China supports the efforts by Russia’s authorities to stabilize the situation in the country after the demarche by the Wagner Group leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, against the leadership of the Ministry of Defense.

That’s according to a statement issued by MFA China’s spokesperson, Ukrinform's own correspondent reports.

"As Russia’s friendly neighbor and comprehensive strategic partner of coordination for the new era, China supports Russia in maintaining national stability and achieving development and prosperity," reads the statement issued on Sunday.

The very events related to Prigozhin's demarche are referred to as "Russia’s internal affair."

Earlier the same day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China reported on the talks held in Beijing between Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Russia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrey Rudenko. The parties "exchanged views on Sino-Russian relations, as well as international and regional issues of common interest." The diplomatic office did not disclose any details of the negotiations.

At the same time, neither the Chinese nor the Russian side previously announced the visit and neither did they report when Rudenko had arrived in Beijing and whether his visit to China, Russia’s key ally, was related to the attempted revolt by Prigozhin. Apparently, Moscow sent one of its top diplomats to Beijing precisely in order to inform the Chinese side about Wagner Group’s spectacle and the latest developments in this regard.

As reported, on June 23, Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the "Wagner" PMC, went for a démarche against the Russian military leadership, in particular against Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Prigozhin’s private army took control of Rostov-on-Don and part of Voronezh region on June 24, after which the Wagner leader ordered his mercenaries to advance on Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the insurrection attempt, calling it a blow to the country’s back and vowing “harsh punishment” for those involved.

Later the same day, Alexander Lukashenko, in coordination with Putin, held talks with Prigozhin. Following these negotiations, Lukashenko’s office reported a de-escalation deal involving Prigozhin being exiled to Belarus and no legal action being taken against Wagner forces.

The military convoy heading for Moscow made a U-turn just over 100 miles away from the Russian capital. The mercenaries also withdrew from the captured Russian military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, called the mutiny attempt the first stage in dismantling the system built by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Situation in northern operational zone stable, under control - Nayev

The Commander of Ukraine’s Joint Forces, Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, said the situation in the northern operational zone remains stable and under control.

That’s according to the Military Media Center, Ukrinform reports.

"As for the commentaries regarding Wagner Group’s possible participation in the attack on our territory from the Republic of Belarus, I’d like to assure everyone that the situation in the northern operational zone remains stable and under our control," said Nayev.

According to the commander, the Ukrainian forces continue to build up defense fortifications. All services, from reconnaissance to engineering troops, are extensively engaged.

"At the moment, there is no build-up of enemy equipment or manpower. The state border is under reliable protection 24/7. If it happens so that the enemy attempts to cross in, it will be nothing but suicide for them. Our soldiers are ready to give a worthy rebuff to anyone who dares cross the state border up in arms," Nayev stressed.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the former head of the UK General Staff, General Richard Dunnatt, believes Ukraine should beware a possible attack on Kyiv by the Wagner forces led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, who fled to Belarus after the mutiny attempt.

Chonhar bridge closed to cars after explosion - Melitopol mayor

The Chonhar bridge is closed to passenger vehicles, so people have to drive along a very bad road to get to the checkpoint Armiansk, while on the border between Russia and Latvia, people are required to undergo filtration that takes about four days.

Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov said this during the nationwide United News telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"After the explosion on the Chonhar bridge, it is completely closed to passenger traffic. Some military trucks can drive across it. Others are being sent to [the checkpoint] Armiansk. But the road from Simferopol to Armiansk is extremely bad, and it's difficult for residents to get there," Fedorov said.

There is a huge queue at the checkpoint Armiansk today. According to Fedorov, this was an essential transition for evacuation from the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

"Today, Chonhar is not operating, while Armiansk is operating not well. There are a large number of people on the border between Russia and Latvia. Residents stand at the crossing points for four days. So it is almost impossible to evacuate," the mayor added.

As reported, the Russian invaders tear up Ukrainian passports at checkpoints in the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region.
